you know what else is never used. during the 20 metre restart, noone ever goes for that dropout that if it goes out, they get the ball bak. sherwin used to do it all the time. cant remember any doin it since

farah does it quiet reguarly, ive never him fail to find touch using it either.

It's definitely still in use, as mentioned Kimmorley and Farah have used it this year. It is a punt, and the ball can only bounce once I think before going over the sideline, or it can go out on the full I think from a 20m tap, that's why it's called an optional restart or optional tap.
wasnt sure if it was a punt or drop kick, its been that long since i seen it.. only see like 3 games a week. the ones on normal tv. but i still think it is something that is definietly underused. is that the correct ruling? not entirely sure wat the correct ruling is?

I'm not sure, and I really cbf finding out. I remember doing an assignment a year or 3 ago on the NRL, I remember trying to look for a rulebook just for the NRL, and even a complete one for league in general, but it was hopeless. If you can find anywhere, please pass on a link.
