The first?... the best of the year so far.

A halftime lead against a gun side.

So what's different?

Less Gallen and we decide to play football. For the first time since Shep and Morris had control we decide to run some different lines. And push some passes.

Lewis outside Bird is working.

Wade seeing less ball is working.

Less Gordon at the back is working.

Roosters making some unfamiliar stupid decisions in attack but Bird's left side defence is excellent.

Ennis running things - just make him captain.

Bombs?...Wade, Ennis, Robson - not one effective.

The second?...Determined effort to close it out.

When we lost Ennis we were in trouble and leaked a couple of tries and at too many times we got away from what was working in the first half - playing footy.

Everybody knows we're tough - but when we push the ball we look damn good.
We have to change the way we play.

Bird saw less ball in the second half and we weren't as effective. He put on two plays in the second which won us the game.

He is Mr Football - so go to him. And why the fair ff**k is Holmes being pushed to the wing for Gordon for such long stretches.

Gordon has had his go and it's time to go...Holmes is dangerous every time he touches it so get him the ff**k in to the middle of the game.

Bird killed them in the nines but it takes four losses to get him a gig.

They aren't players for the future - they are players for now!

Stop the bombs - best kicks when Bird found the ground or cross kicks for Feki and Lewis.

Lewis's role worked today - ball playing.

What has Wade done to deserve the minutes he gets?...not enuff - get him off for a break - too many mistakes.

Despite your in depth analysis we won because we made far fewer mistakes, starved them of possession and had a match winner playing in the 6

If we gave them 50% we get beaten if we had barba instead of bird we get beaten.

Spot on analysis.

Dominated possession and field position.

Bird and Holmes were excellent. They created opportunities through backing their footy instincts. Their roles need to become more prominent to add attacking thrust to the team.

Yep - and how do you get more than your share of possession?

You push the pass and run them around. Target their playmakers.
When they get the ball they're more likely to be tired and make mistakes.

The grind we like to play where we run tackling drills over and over at them means the opposite.

We should've been seeing this in round 1 against the Raiders.

Happy for the win but your right, roosters were penis hands all game. Shining light was the halves and Gordon - pro through and through.
Back it Friday night and I might crack a smile but until they put a few together I wont be getting too excited.

We must have been watching a different game

I didn't see fafita graham or gal pushing passes no one handed looking for the offload runs by fafita either.

I saw a grinding complete the set get kick away and pressure opponent style game.

In the first half we had nothing in their 20, and we were in the twenty plenty.

Same old heads getting in there doing the same old things.

Until youth showed them how to do it.

That's astounding

Here I was thinking statistically a longer a game went on defences get tired and the smaller players had a much better chance of capitalising on lazy defence

All this time I was wrong and if we let bird and Holmes etc just take on the roosters from the start we could have won by thirty points

I agree that we had nothing inside their 20 in the first half. We were controlled without threatening. I was waiting for the possession to even up and we would have been smoked.

Easts make plenty of errors and score plenty of points.

Great win and something that can be built on.

Ah, Bird was the 5/8. They usually get involved early. He doesn't look that small.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned that the Roosters scored their first try at the 66 min mark, and their second try right on the 70 min mark :sarcasm:

I don't like Heighington in the team, he gets in the way nearly all the time.
He wears number 10 what the hell does he think he has number 7 on his jersey.
