The only controversy I see is the media driven one.

Gus often raises good points.

But when it comes down to it, the points he does raise have no bearing on the rules under which the players of both teams take to the paddock.

Gus may not like the rules. We may not like the rules. However these are the rules. The players know them. The coaches know them.

I would like to know what Gus has done to change these rules he dislikes so much other then bitch about them.

Gus has probably forgotten (although he should remember because he was playing then) that time off for all penalties, dead balls etc was introduced in the early 1980s and was quickly abandoned because games were taking so long to complete.

In the days before every ground had top class light towers and kick off was at 3pm? It wouldn't be an issue today.

Rather than stop the clock for everything (like penalties, finding touch etc), maybe just stop it for events in-goal (Try, 20m Restart, Line Drop etc) and restart the clock on the re-commencement of play?
