El Duque...A line must be drawn somewhere...You seem eager to resort to personal attacks..Is this a reflection of your troubled mind ??..Or is this hatred towards others really a hatred of yourself ??...Deep down are you homophobic because you think you may be gay ?? Do you trust yourself in the company of nice young men ?? Or are you likely to say "I'm not a twinkie but I once rooted a bloke who was" ??

dubo, I am an occasional poster (although have become more frequent recently) and I can't disagree with you more. From a purely league perspective the diversity is huge, which I like. The last thing I want to do is sit around with a whole lot of warriors fans all agreeing that our team is great. Have you even read the thoughts on society thread? Thinking a little bit before you post might make it a more enjoyable experience for you. Implying that most members of the forum are bigoted, parochial homophobes is not a good way to make friends. How did you expect people to react when you wrote that?

Dubopov,
I had just written to you comparing this place to a pub rather than a boys club.Anyway, I lost the lot,so excuse me for not going through it all again. The jist of was that blokes at the bar are decentfolk and that sometimes we can take things to personally.I mean we have to put up with non Dragon supporters, liberal voters and Kiwis so it is a fairly diverse crew(as Willow said). It also proves that we can be tolerant.
Anyway mate, stay at the bar, I'll get this drink and your next shout.

If you inhabit a site like this, wherein controversial and contentious topics are invariably focused upon, you can bet that at some stage you are going to fall foul of the wider group dynamic. At such times you've just got to stiffen the upper lip, ride it out, and try your hardest to not take adverse comments to heart. The immediacy of electronic interaction is all too often to the detriment of netizens, given that they commonly fire in responses (in the heat of the moment) that are perhaps more aggressive in tone than they would normally like. I fell victim to this on Sunday evening, before doing a quick double take and deleting a fiery reply to another poster (not you) that in hindsight, didn't paint me in a light that was overly flattering.

I think that both you and El Duque are placing too much stock in some of the posts to the 'TEST' thread, given that the whole thing is really just a tongue-in-cheek piss take. I think at the end of the day you really need to step outside of things a bit and take stock. Things fluctuate in here and at any given moment you can find yourself either swimming with the tide or against it.

I think the 'Boys Club' things stems from the fact that here, as with other fora, there is a group of people who post more regularly than others. While often they may agree on points, there are always times when they rub each other badly up the wrong way. It is rare, however, that they don't 'kiss and make-up when the dust settles'.

Stick with it, a good forum needs members who are keen and willing to put views forward.

How many times do I have to ask you to show me all these personal attacks?

Produce them or shut the hell up. You have so far given not one example of a personal attack.

As for this gay stuff it seems you are the one with all that talk.

Basically you're full of shit and have no evidence to back up your claims.

I will keep waiting for your 20 posts.

Just like my bi-yearly visits to WORL I feel dumber for having read this thread. Why people persist in pandering to those who raise a hand tocry foul in onepost yet can be seen holding the smoking gun in another is beyond me. If Dubo isbig enough to switch this weird bit of technology on then he's big enough to switch it off, no-ones forcing him to stay but in return no-one is asking him to leave. Sure I believe this whole things a gee-up but it is getting annoying when it starts toinfiltrate other non-related threads.

All I can suggest is take the good with the bad, if you dish it out expect it back & last but not least wait at least half an hour after eating before you go swimming.

Lighten up,mate. you can,t expect to make statements like you did about Bevo,Martyn &Symonds without drawing a bit of flak.
as for the gay thing you are reading too much into it,its a bit like the old definition of date rape-taking seriously what,s poked at you in fun.
Take a deep breath, put a tablet under your tongue and have some fun.

THIS IS WHAT THEY SAY <h3>OVER YOUR HEAD:</h3> <blockquote>"I'd like to respond to that, but taking into account your background, education, and intelligence, I am quite sure that you would not be able to understand."</blockquote> <h3>EVEN YOU:</h3> <blockquote>"My next point will be so cogent that even you will be able to understand it." "Even you should be able to grasp the next point."</blockquote> <h3>YOU'LL GET OVER IT:</h3> <blockquote>"I used to think that way when I was your age." "As you mature emotionally (or mentally, or spiritually), you will grow out of your present way of thinking, and you will eventually come around to my point of view" "You're new here, aren't you?"</blockquote> <h3>WISHFUL THINKING:</h3>Instead of proving a point true or false, this technique tries to imply that the individual's desires have led him/her astray without dealing with the merits of the issue itself. (C.S. Lewis termed this "Bulverism".) Any strong desire can be shown to have tainted a conclusion or clouded objectivity, which cast in doubt the legitimacy of a point. This is very close to the classic ad hominem fallacy - "you say that because you are a man". <blockquote>"You support capital punishment because of a deep-rooted death wish common among those who have suffered emotional traumas during childhood." "You oppose capital punishment because of an irrational suppressed death taboo common among those who have suffered emotional trauma during childhood." ;)NO I WOULD NEVER SAY ANY OF THAT SHIT</blockquote>
