lunch day 4

288 to go 10 wickets left

If we can be around 3/180 at stumps tonight or better would be brilliant

Radio commentary just threw up Phil Jacques, whatever happened to that guy? Thought he was a pretty quality opener to be fair.

I suggested him a few weeks ago.

Timbo informed me he's no longer eligible to play for Australia.

He's been playing in county cricket as a local. His parents are English.

He got a back injury that he never came back from. And your right, he was a fair opener. Better than fair actually, 47 average with 3 tons and 6 fifties in 11 tests.

he supposedly had a minor weakness against spin as well.....

Still, he's Brian Lara compared to Hughes against spin.

Ah that's a shame, especially considering the revolving door at the top order since he left.

Don't think he'd be that old either, probably no older than Rogers anyway.

Yeah, younger than Rogers. He's 34.

I wonder if he regrets his decision seeing what Rogers has done.

D-Day for Warner and Khawaja. Both their spots should be in jeopardy. If they fail here they must go because they would have had as many failures as Hughes.

so no point recalling Hughes back either then
If he failed as often in his best position as they did I'd be for dropping him aswell. I said before I only want Hughes to get 3 guaranteed tests as opener and if he averaged before 40 even I'd be for dropping him permanently.

It's now upto Khawaja and Warner. If they fail here we should use the 5th as a very valuable try out for the next Ashes.

Hopefully Warner and Khawaja are involved in a matchwinning partnership.. Faulkner in as a straight swap for Watson next match. Simple.
