how does pushing your keeper up the order allow you to play an extra batsman

you can only have 11 players and all you are doing is changing the batting order around

Drop Hughes, and you play a hitting batman/bowler (e.g. Smith, etc) or another bowling allrounder e.g. Cutting, Henriques. It is a much better balance, gives you an extra bowling option.

Poor old locky  Unless your keeper is from the 19th century and can't bat to save himself it doesn't matter if he bats 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 7. All rounders add to your batting and bowling options, where your keeper bats has nothing to with. However, the quality of the keeper's batting ability can make a difference.

And Haddin is ok at best as a batsmen. Lets not forget why Haddin was edged out of the one day set up - he was dropping sitters and getting out at crucial times 'playing his natural game'. The only reason he's back in is because of the complete ineptitude of Scissorhands.

Haddin's best position is opener in ODIs, has his best average and a good strike rate there. Whilst he is in the side in one dayers, he is a must over Hughes as opener

You piss off Hughes then you can put another dasher in the middle order or a bowling allrounder. Like Locky said a bit more felixibility. Bailey, Clarke and Voges can all play anchor roles if need be

Exactly as it is I am uneasy about Voges batting 6 at the best of times as he needs more time to get himself set. I like the idea of Ben Cutting or Moises Henriques playing and batting 7 or 8, rather than having Hughes as a specialist bat.

Look, I think we can all agree that HAH is hopeless and should be dropped.

Preferably from a great height.

TPB knows.

First time all series this opening partnership has failed. They're only human.

Hopefully HAH and Watto kick on.

HAH showing the serious improvements to his technique he has made over the last two years. Much more defensively solid. Much more of a leg side game. A much more complete batsman.

Playing on roads against shit attacks might also have something to do with it.

Sad end. First time in about 18 months he has got out to a genuine edge. Just as he was starting to look good.
