NZ should win this one, however if Gayle turns up and they dismiss McCullum cheaply, it will be anyones game

Starts 12pm AEDT SATURDAY

Gayle's always a bit of a worry, but we should handle them... nonetheless, knock-outs are a worry for everyone

Taylor and Holder have been good, Holder is a fine young bowler, hopefully being handed the captaincy doesn't grind him down...

Yep, agree - not so sure on the status of Ronchi or Warner (in odis) - but not arguing

at the moment pretty evenly matched.... but I don't think India, SA, Pakis, and Sri Lanka can be ruled out just yet... India are clearly just a different team to earlier in the summer, and a huge threat...

Pakistan just continually churn our quality bowlers - just think, for various reasons Asif, Aamer, Sohail, Ajmal and Gul all are not here...

and if Malinga could time travel...

But, on point, we beat the Windies 8 times out of 10... but this is one off, and they have talent

Corey Anderson proved me wrong especially, seen him bat under pressure a few times now,he is quite the rescue man on occasions.

This is arguably the worst opponent New Zealand could have got.

The Windies have the talent to blow away any team, and unlike say Australia 2003/2007 nobody in this world cup is invincible especially not New Zealand. Taylor and Holder are well capable of nipping out BMac and Kane and I'm really not convinced about everything else. Then if Gayle and/or Samuels clicks.... uh oh

I think the way the Bangladesh game panned out last week was great preparation for NZ in the quarters - reminded them that even though top seed going into quarters they're not invulnerable and gave a bit of confidence to some of the non-openers.

I'm going to this one live (having already been to the NZvENG & NZvAUS games live this CWC), torn between wanting NZ to just rip through them (like the England game) or having a close tense encounter (like the AUS game in minimal overs or the BAN game over most of the 50 overs).

Be a short argument that one - of all the quarter final teams only Bangladesh would be more preferable to face imo

I'd rather face the Windies than the Bangers. Get Gayle out- all downhill from there. We won't take them lightly, but it doesn't get any easier in this comp

Bangladesh very nearly made it 8 wins in a row over NZ in ODI's the other day,NZ would rather face the West Indies no doubt about that.

NZ should have too much class here, can see their quicks running through this Windies batting line-up. No real bowlers of note, Holder isn't too bad but don't like his chances if someone like McCullum gets into him early.

Could have been much much worse, you almost had Ireland as your quarter final opponents :)

The only interesting thing about this game is the nervousness from Kiwi's that the overrated minnow basher Chris Gayle might actually do something in this game, that muppet won't last more than 5 overs.

There was a news article about Gayle breaking pickets at training. What they didn't make much of was that he was doing it from about 15 m away.

You never know, Gayle could turn it on...but I am not worried by him.

Nah, Taylor and Holder are the ones to be a bit worried by - at the end of the day we should win well, and then the correct 4 teams would be in the semis, all with approximately equal chances of winning this thing
