Agreed Daz...Taylor hasn't been signed to play halfback. He was signed a while ago.

I don't think we'll get Thurston now the Cowboys have fronted up.

Ah well. Sucks but lets see what we do now. That will say a lot about Gould and Cleary.

Michael Morgan and Sam Williams. Can get them both with the money we budgeted for Thurston with plenty leftover too.

Sam Williams is still unproven as far as I'm concerned, but given the lack of quality halves around I expect clubs to throw money at him on promise. Could turn out a mistake.

thurston was unproven at one stage in his career as well.Williams is young and has natural talent .Would go well with a lot of the young talent coming through

Unless Furner moves McCrone to hooker. Williams is behind Campese/McCrone with Milford/Cornish fast approaching. So he's up for grabs for sure. He showed more in the semi against the sharks then Walsh has for 5 years.

The problem with Widdop & Morgan they haven't had the chance to prove they are matchwinners as they play with superstars. If they are happy playing second fiddle we will need a big offer to get them away. Atm you would pay more then $200-$300k for them. If that's enough is the question

Either way..we can keep Coote for next year with Williams and then trust in Moylan potentially.

Give Sam Williams 300-400k and use the rest of that million to improve the roster other ways and retain our best players.

Yeah but when the Cows picked him up it wasn't for big coin, Williams will not go cheap, and there's a chance he could turn out a Wallace.

And Thurston just said on the footy show that he will have his contract sorted out in the next few days. Cows reportedly make a new big offer, and he says he will have everything sorted out in a few days, looks like he's staying.

Whilst I agree it doesn't look good for us with the recent reports. Thurston actually said that he will be "making a decision over the next few days" upon consultation with his fiancé. He also mentioned that he has had a number of big offers. Only he knows for sure which way he is leaning.

I thought he did a great job of not giving away anything - even though sterlo was pushing for an exclusive.

For me, I would love for him to come. But if he doesn't its not the end of the world. As long as we splash in the right places and find out now so that it does not limit our other opportunities

Would take Johnson in a heartbeat but I don't know if Widdop will be worth the price tag I expect he'll command, not sure what he can do without that spine around him.

If Panthers lose out on Thurston then splash that money on Shaun Johnston and Michael Morgan or Gareth Widdop.

I would love Shaun Johnson but I don't think he is off contract (not that it means anything these days). You would think we would be able to fund multiple top players with that dosh.

Maybe a centre (Croker), half (Williams, widdop, carney or Norman) or some strike with mateo

No to Norman. We are at the stage where we only need proven quality players. We don't need to waste money on possible stars. We have to keep room to re-sign the u20's

I don't rate Norman. Dude doesn't pass.

There is a reason they brought in Scott Price.

Only Johnson, Widdop and Williams are guys I'd go after.

Other than that...from what we saw from Scarlett yesterday we could be ok in a year or so there anyway.

Yep. We can cover weak halves if we put enough quality around them. Add taylor to that pack that started yesterday I would make a play for Folau and go after quality but keep the kids.

It's not just the 20's. Matts and Ball have plenty of quality aswell.

I watched that under 20's game yesterday. Scarlett definitely goes very, very well!!
