5 Reasons we will beat/lose to The Tigers

I've been thinking how important this game is for us and how much we really need to win. If we do, it will give us confidence to do the same to the Titans the week after and get our season up and running. But can we do it?

Here are five reasons why we can beat them and five reasons why we can't:

Why We Can Beat The Tigers

  1. Our forward pack. Even though it is ageing, it is experienced and tough. We really stuck it to the Storm last week and put them off their game.
  2. Ben Barba. The little fellow is now starting to find his form and show what he can do. We need to realise he'll never be as good as 2012 but he's still the best number one we have at the moment.
  3. Val can't play that bad again surely. You can bet your bottom dollar you won't see a performance like that from Val again this year. Made up for his first half show with a great break to set up Chad.
  4. The return of Paul Gallen. Love him or hate him, Gal inspires his players and they lift when he is part of the team.
  5. Our spine is getting better. Maloney, Barba, Townsend and Ennis are getting closer and closer each week to seeing us click and I think they'll get even closer on Saturday.
Why We Can't Beat the Tigers

  1. Tigers are our bogey team. They have the wood on us definitely. I don't have the stats on hand but I'm sure the win/loss ratio is heavily in their favour.
  2. Their unpredictable attack. The Tigers are great when they move the ball around and they are so hard to defend against because they are so unpredictable.
  3. James Tedesco. I'm sure any of us would love to have him in our side - I think it's a simple as Tedesco doesn't play the Tigers don't win. He's not only great in attack but brilliant in defence.
  4. The return of Paul Gallen. Yes, it's a positive for us but also a negative. Gal tries to take on too much sometimes and gets in the way. If he does this it will make it harder for Maloney and co to do their work.
  5. No home ground advantage. The time slot makes it great for families to attend and they'll have a big crowd cheering them on.

Probably my favourite post of the year. Analytical, realistic and gives a generally somewhat jaded fan a boost of positivity that is always lurking beneath the surface but is too beaten down to expect too much happiness. We have a lot to feel good about this year and that in itself, is a great position for a sharks fan to be in. The team is far from perfect but our roster can threaten for a title more than we have for many years. Cmon you f**king sharks, time to show we are now beyond the stigma of our history.

Its all about line speed if we get in there face and rush them we will win. If we sit back and drop off them they will kill us. Interesting side note is they are most potent down the right side which is the side we are best at defensively only conceding two trys down that side this year. Should make a interesting battle.
