5 Things we learnt v Tigers

At least we agree on one thing.

The game was lost by the time Matulino came on and he was noticeably out of puff at the end from playing from that time onwards.

Someone needed to give RTS a spray for his poor defence.

We searched for tickets in Bay 18 and there was only general entry so we just thought there wasn't one and sat in the sun.

Probably good I wasn't within Doyle's earshot - although, I wouldn't have charged him for my consultation.

What shape is Hape looking in? He could waltz in to the club and be the number 2 centre behind Solomona McFadden-Kata if he's even partly fit.

Ok, two things we agree on.

Bro u shoud of just jumped in with us in the bay. U going to Gosford

What's wrong with Hoffman? Apparently the NZ coverage missed a huge spray he gave our team on fulltime, which the Australian coverage got. Something Simon never did. Hoffman is absolutely the best captaincy option and I believe he has every hallmark of a great NRL captain. Whether he's got a dud side under him, that's not on him. This is a bloke who had the necessary skill, heart and dedication to be named NSW's best in their first series win in 9 years. He's a gun who should be respected and followed.

Someone asked who gave them a spray at half time...my money would be on Hoffman

5 things I've learnt are:

1. Gavet looks to be an awesome signing. His kick returns at times reminded me a bit of Paleaasina, in the fact that he just ran straight and hard. If he can keep this up for the season, could be the bargain buy of the NRL. Very surprised he started, but did not dissapoint whatsoever

2. Warriors need to win, including last year, I've lost count of how many losses in a row we are in. The curse of the 1st round continues as well. Cappy needs to shape up or he will go. Perhaps harsh granted its only Round 1, but perhaps warranted when looking into last year as well

3. The superstar spine needs time to gel. Luke didn't look nearly as effective in Warrior colours than the green and red (or black and white for that matter), RTS did well with the ball, but his D at times was terrible. Robson looked to be trying a bit too hard. SJ merit to. Always happens with new players at clubs, and having so many in vital positions, I just hope we can pick this up sooner rather than later.

4. Henry is now the new Ropati in terms of injury, possibly even worse. If his season is over already, perhaps a change of career might be in order for the poor fellow. I like Henry, and when he is fit, he'd be picked everytime for me. Sadly though, injuries will take their toll on him. He's a young fella, and I don't his knee to be as fragile as a toothpick. Heres wishing it isn't as bad as first feared though

5. Whatever was said at halftime, now needs to be said before Kick off next week. Dust off the loss, learn and move on. The Warriors can't dwell on that result. It's round one, and had we not switched off in the final 10-15 minutes then there's every possibility we could have taken (a very unlikely at halftime) the bikkies.

1. You can talk all the professionalism you want, but when you fall off countless one on one tackles, fail to find touch, drop pill cold, be down 28-4 at HT when it could've been so much more, your hooker is fat and you can't find it in you to come out focused after 6 months of stewing over last year's shit finish, it's all hot air. We are hot air and I don't want to hear jack until it's shown to be different.

2. We'll get a free ride from the media. The SKY after-match was laughably soft. All about how great the comeback was, how good Tedesco is, only early days etc. Where's the analysis of what's going wrong from these guys? Then we get Dyslexic Daryl puffing up Roache's date asking how great it is to play league. The print media write play by play match reports and couldn't give too much of a stuff, then Allen Mac is the biggest cheerleader in sport. So no pressure there.

3. We can win games if we turn up from the opening whistle. In that heat, if we weren't fit, we would've lost by 50. We clearly are to stage a comeback from 28-4. So it's mental, not physical. That's a positive, I guess.

4. Solomone Kata's mum bakes muffins for McFadden.

5. Signing two marquee names, Robson etc means jack if the rest of them can't get it right defensively. 26 points should be enough to win an NRL game.

Conceding 28 points in the first half of game 1 against mediocre opposition is a terrible sign...

I was shocked when I saw Luke and his Mark Riddell impersonation

We know they will be inconsistent, still, but we can be 100% clear they are an unprofessional, poorly coached organisation - the more things change, the more they stay the same. While Doyle might be better than Scurrah, has anything really improved?

First time the Tigers had a go at our line ( 3 mins) our defensive line was running backwards..

All first half the Tigers came to our line on attack, we didn't move up on them in D.

If Cappy has to FO..hope he takes Morgs with him..

1. Ayshford is not as slow as people say, Lolohea makes a break down the right hand touch line, Ayshford puts on the after burners and keeps up with Tui.

2. Our right edge defence might actually work, please be true, that's half the nightmare in the bag

3. Some players have worked out that if your career at the Warriors is in jeopardy...play really poorly.....the coach will be sacked and you get a clean slate again with the incoming coach

4. The Warriors can play second half footy, they are actually fit enough, there will be little acknowledgement of the fact, since the effort was so piss poor that it will be lost in the hysteria....again sack the coaches and training staff too.

5. A defensive coaching specialist from the Storm can't make the Warriors want to tackle

Sam Tomkins sucked....but our passing and timing is rubbish now he has wimped off to England.

1. There's no easy games away from home, there's no just turning up with all our talent and just waltzing past the opposition, we have to fight hard for every win.

2. The Warriors usually fade in the hot conditions, this time it went the other way.

3. Luke and Sheck might not be instant classics, they'll need time to gel with us.

4. Heading towards our 10th straight loss this Friday night the coach will probably continue to chop and change players in our trouble spots, instead of settling on developing combinations, and confidence.

5. Johnson and our workhorses, i.e. Mannering, Thompson, and now hopefully Gavet, will keep us in enough games to keep us competitive on the ladder, but we won't be dancing by mid-September unless there's significant improvement in our overall performance.

Well said mate - I like this

As good as 30 minutes of the second half was, you have to remember it was against the Tigers. The Tigers are tipped for bottom 3, so there is 12 teams supposedly better and won't allow the Warriors to pile on 24 unanswered points each game

Oh well, looks like the Tiges are sitters to take out the big one then.

How these so called experts can predict finishing spots prior to round one
is way beyond me.

Even at the game we didn't notice there was a bay 18, but there were Warriors fans all over the place anyway.

Probably wont go to Gosford - going to Campbelltown was far enough.;-)
