I heard on ABC radio this morning theyre talking about live friday nite games for AFL this year, I assume this is different to past seasons, dunno what the AFL televised status is for their particular days...but I can see Live AFL up against delayed NRL being a worry.

dude, in 2007 there will be live league on Friday nights. Can't see why 9 will run live AFL on Fox Footy this year though as they won't get jack out of it.

i hope that 7 do run live against League as it will get smashed.

IF Kerry was still around and in charge it wouldn't have but maybe with Jamie there it might be a bit different. Channel 10 did the right thing and lost ratings by putting the Swans porime time in Sydney will be interesting to see if 9 does the same in Vic, WA, SA etc with the league.
I don’t think Rugby League needs to be put on in Prime time in Victoria, to improve its coverage. Once the current AFL contract is complete next year, the Storm have said they would like to play Friday Night games at the new Olympic Park. I’m sure the Storm would be looking at having their game replayed after 9.30pm on Channel 9 Melbourne.
Once Channel 9 is free of its AFL commitments, Sunday afternoon NRL games should not be a problem for them to screen as well. On top of “Live” State of Origin matches (with one match in Melbourne this season) and the Tri Nations at the end of the next domestic season should see an improvement in coverage,

As much as I'd like to see other NRL games at a decent hour I would rather that Nein and the Storm reach an agreement to show replays of Storm games on a Sunday afternoon. Like what used to happen before Nein got the AFL rights. This was good for building awareness of the Melbourne Storm and Rugby League in the past and I can see no reason why it wouldn't be good in the future. That combined with the new stadium in 2008 and Storm home crowds will get back up where they should be, above 15k.
