WTF was Tony Archer thinking. A STRIP. What F$#Cken STRIP. Billy Slater dropped that ball. I'm not saying that we would have won the game if it had of went the other way, but this was a huge call to get wrong at a crucial time in any game, let alone a grand final.
What a great year. look forward to 2010.

Yeah the ref screwed that up, and we screwed up the play where inglis caught the bomb and scored uncontested.
It's disappointing, but we shouldn't have allowed ourselves to be in that position.

I don't believe Archer lost us the game, however he had a shocking game and definitely spoilt the occasion with some terrible calls.

Inglis' try was the real turning point IMO.

I don't for one second think the refs cost us but that was a BAD call at a crucial point of the game. Would have made the last 4 mins interesting.....

The no contest for the Inglis try was pathetic, also the Storm knew they had us after the Hoffman try imo, they score pretty much 3 tries from the same poor defence.....on both sides of the field!

Once again the team (much like 2001) had a halfback who wasn't quite up for the ocassion and some players who got us there just made crucial defensive errors at the wrong time.

I feel sorry for Hindmarsh, Cayless and Burt! They didn't deserve to lose again.

Absolutely, I agree.

That call was massive though - it might not have been a turning point but it ensured Melbourne had the opportunity to seal the game with that FG.

If we had that call go against us in the fourth minute, rather than with four to go, we wouldnt even be talking about it.

I don't know, i am still extremely pissed about a set of six in the first half where we were on a massive roll and Melbourne were off-side the WHOLE set and we get a kick away Slater picks it up we tackle him and they blow a bullsh*t penalty for laying in the ruck!

Instead of us attacking their line, they were attacking our line......

Melbourne are the only team that are allowed to get away with it, they are the filthiest team of the modern era!

to be fair though Kornstar, we dodged some bullets ourselves, like Ben Smith's hit on Inglis which should have been penalised. We would have been really pissed if, say, Hayne was hit like that in the same situation.

All in all though, it just shows Archer is a dope.

I think they based too many of their 5th tackle options around Hayne. I didn't see too much of Morts or Robbo all game.

The Inglis try summed up the match for mine. We had just scored and I thought we were going to keep it going, then not to contest that bomb was a joke.

Should have been a penalty, i agree.

Apart from that, what else went our way? C.Smith threw 15 forward passes, the whole Storm team lay in the ruck all game and they get bulls*t penalties for no reason.......

The no contest for the Inglis try though lost us the game!

Arrghh. :x](*,)

That wouldve given us another opportunity and possibly Golden Point.

I wouldnt have cared if it was still 23-16 and Archer ruled a knock on, but Where was Shayne Hayne. They talk about 2 referees being consistent all year, and they get the wrong calls at the wrong time.

Not saying the referee cost us the game, we werent good enough, but everytime there would be a 50/50 call, it was always going against us.

That is a penalty every game. Maybe you should watch the replay without your Blue and Yellow glasses on. One of the Eels players runs past Slater and clearly knocks the ball out of his hands.

Regardless of what Slater was doing, a player returning back on side shouldn't be running that close to the play the ball area or you risk giving away a penalty.

Yes I am f**king serious, did you not see that. I thought it was pretty clear.

Actually, when it first happened I thought the Eels were totally ripped off but once I saw the replay I thought Archer got it 100% correct.

Watch it again and keep an eye on Slaters arm holding the ball, you will see the Eels player knocks the ball out as he runs past.
