Wenger - Lehmann will fight to win his place
By Richard Clarke

Arsène Wenger expects an impatient Jens Lehmann will ‘fight every day” to win his place back in the Arsenal side.

This weekend, for the first time since August 19, the manager has his two first-choice keepers at his disposal and he has decided to stick with Manuel Almunia.

The Spaniard has performed well in his 10 games between the posts but Lehmann’s position as German No 1 makes his omission from the squad big news.

Still, Wenger had high praise for the former Borussia Dortmund stopper’s return after injury against Ireland last weekend and he knows his decision will illicit a positive reaction from the 37-year-old.

“Jens Lehmann played very well for Germany,” he said. "But Almunia will play against Bolton. He must be patient and fight for his place.

“Patience is not his best quality and Jens will fight every day to be back in the team but I have three world class keepers here now.

“In our job you must always fight hard and be able to cope with any situation that you deal with.

"At the moment he must be strong enough to deal with it.”

This week, German manager Joachim Löw was quoted as saying Lehmann had to regain his Arsenal place to retain his role in the national team for Euro 2008.

"Of course I want him to play in the European Championship,” replied Wenger when the question was put to him. “But I can only make a decision that is right for Arsenal.

"All I can tell you is that for Bolton, Almunia will play and that maybe after that I will change, I can’t say.

"I respect every player but unfortunately I cannot please everyone.”

I saw the same show Macca. Denilson was saying that Gilberto really helps him out. He is stilll having English lessons and can barely speak English and Gilberto is often his translator. Denno said that Gilbs would invite him to have dinner and go around town with him. A big advantage of him playing. Possibly a player/coaching role. He could be involved with the yong South Americans while playing.

Also good stuff Fabregas and Wenger, heard about it this morning. Forgot to post the link.

I see, new Gunners Assitant coach have we?

Where do I fit in?

First choice goalkeeper. Almunia, Lehman, Fabianski and Mannone will sh*t themselves when they sign me.

1. Almunia
2. Fabianski
3. Nikolovski (SD)

It's gonna be hard for them when they sign me too.

Muller (me)
Hleb
Fabregas
Denilson
Rosicky

Nah, I'm just glad AW listened to me when I said he should groom Theo on the flanks before moving central like the path Henry took :D

Jens will be one unhappy man.

I see the line-up after January NP.

------------Nikolovski------------
--Sagna-Toure--Gallas-Clichy--
-Hleb-Fabregas-Muller-Rosicky-
------Adebayor-van Persie------

Damn that's one good side! We may as well take all the trophies now!

And I'm seeing me breaking the all-time record for most clean sheets in all-competitions and the EPL and you becoming the highest ever goalscorer in the world along with Fab, RVP and Big Ade.

Interesting starting Eboue over Diaby. Gone for toughness against a tough team.

-------------Almunia------------
--Sagna-Toure-Gallas-Clichy--
-Eboue-Fabregas-Flamini-Hleb-
-----Adebayor----Eduardo-----

Bench - Fabianski, Gilberto, Diaby, Rosicky, Walcott

Wenger will pay 25m to Wollongong Wolves for you and 25m to Lambton Jaffas SC for me.
I'm that good I'll push Denilson out of his future spot and tell Gilberto to piss off and all UK national teams will be pushing me to play for them but I'll play for Australia because I am not a traitor and I am not to sure about you.
I'll also set a record for number of assists, shots on targets, yellow cards, shots. And you will set the record for the least amount of goals needed to save.

Typical bloody Bolton game. Boring as bat sh*t, plenty of long balls, plenty of fouls and tough to find space. Very frustrating.

Must stay patient and take our chances.

Would like to see Diaby on for Eboue for a bit more creativity. Will probably see Rosicky or Walcott at some stage.

C'mon lads.

2-0 win to the Gunners :D

Stepped up a gear from the kick off to second half and never gave them a look in. Still wasn't flash, but taking the points in the end is the main thing from these type of games.

Goals to Toure, a well slotted freekcik from range and then Theo broke down the right and found a nice square ball for Rosicky to dink home nicely.

Woohoo!

Home game against Slavia Prague on Wednesday morning now. Big game, would be great to go to 9 points in the group.

A wins a win. I'll take it!

Can someone explain why we are doing so well after Thierry Henry leaves? We're like the Melbuurne Storm (after getting rid of Orford) of the Premiership!

Couple of reasons I guess.

The main one for me and it was something I did predict :D is that every time we come forward we're not mostly looking for the 'super star' who will have a whinge if he doesn't get the ball. We're using all options. Fabregas shooting, and scoring from range is a perfect example. Last season, he'd have been looking to slot TH (when he was fit).

The team has also matured. The young guys have gained in confidence and also realised it is the beginning of a new era after a legend of the club has left. It was time for them to step up to the plate.

I also believe TH out grew Arsenal for lack of a better word. In the past 2 seasons, he really developed a sence about him that he felt he had 'become' Arsenal. He needed to move on imo.

All very good in hindsight I know. But I guess when you take those things into account, and any fan that has watched Arsenal enough in past seasons could have seen these things developing.

And finally, we're also seeing the Arsene Wenger Version 3 team. It's been a work in progress in the past couple of seasons with all these young guys and we've now got some experience and the team is really playing well as a team.

There was a number of times in the later stage of Henry's career at Arsenal that you simple felt the team were too based around him. Maybe not by design, but simply because of how much of a star he had become at the club and everything started to be about him.

As good as he was for us it's a bit like a breathe of fresh air with him gone. A new era if you like.

Rambling on now

I fell asleep during the game.

I think on 42 minutes. Was a sh*t boring game the first half. Not many good chances. But glad we got a win. And am glad we had to tough it out. The boys showed good character and kept their heads when it was so, damn frustrating.

However Walcott ad Hleb apparently played very well. I know Hleb did but didn'r see Theo.

25m! You're havin a laugh! Wolves will surely demmand more!I'll make Almunia run into the corner and cry. I'll make Jens die of old age. Make Mannone so sh*t scared he'll run all the way back home and tell Fabianzski that he can sit on the bench and be my water boy!

Also I qualify to play Maceondia, Australia and Russia. Russia are havin a laugh! But Australia and Maceondia...WHO WOULD I CHOOSE!
