A Competiton on the Rocks?

The Forum 7's is an interesting concept with some solid competitors and hard working organisers. These competitors are to be admired for putting their typewriting skills to the test week in week out. As long as Shane Website's weekly article does not become the source of inspiration behind posts the Forum 7's will survive for another season.

In some respects the 10 team competition is a fledgling one. After shuffling through some contests i discovered some ingrained problems. My view is Average contributions are often passed off as a low 80 score, for fear of upsetting the contributor in question. Furthermore high standard efforts are often lost in the muddled middle. Other refs see it differently, I have no issue with that

The current whistleblowers are also to be admired for giving up their time. They to a good job, and kep the competiton together. I would like to put my name forward to become the next Bill Harrigan and join the ranks. You all will whisper in the corridors that i would reward posts that resemble my style, you would be wrong. Some may shout down the hallway that i would score Moffo lowly because of past confrontations, i would prove them wrong.

Obviously the competiton would be taking a risk by giving me a whistle. I am not here to humiliate or fool around. I am here to try and improve the standard of the competition, not that it is wallowing at present.

I believe my judgement could add some spice to the match of the week, and give more credence to brave and boisterous posts. Posters would have to bring their boots.

I look forward to negotiations.

All the best.

i'd be curious to see an example of your reffing skills CDF, eg. pick any game from the 1st round... how would you have scored them?

I think anyone who criticises our refs, and assumes they can do better can go f**k themselves.

Our refs put in a lot of time and effort and don't need to be criticised by this no name clown who hasn't actually done the job these people do.

Willow I was a guest player who added some impact when the team was lacking some numbers. I thank you for the opportunity. I think i could add some impact to the officiating ranks this season, despite madunits howls of protest.

cDf highlights a point about scoring of posts which has been discussed before - I find I tend to be a little more generous to posts that have tried but need polish than a poster thats just not up to scratch. I tend to score posters who produce quality articles much higher.

Quite or very low scores atract all sorts of responses ranging from the incredulous and querelous to outraged and offended.

The peablower needs to take sensitivities into account but balance that with objectivity and clean scoring. IMO refs aren't for amusement or to get attention but give the scorers their due.

BTW cDf - are you nomnative determinative - do you live in Croydon, and Melbourne or Sydney ?
