Heath L'Estrange is all smiles at Sea Eagles training.

A DECISION to knock back Heath L'Estrange could come back to haunt the Bondi Junction club when Manly host Brad Fittler's Roosters at Brookvale Oval tomorrow.

L'Estrange played all but one of his games for the Roosters in Premier League last year before the club sacked then coach Chris Anderson.

Roosters' favourite Brad Fittler took over, with L'Estrange soon back in the NRL.

Roosters CEO Brian Canavan admitted to The Manly Daily yesterday they would have liked to have kept L'Estrange, who will face his old club tomorrow.

"We always knew Heath L'Estrange had a fair amount of potential in him and his displayed that," Canavan said. "We would have liked to have kept him in the club, but we were looking for a player with utility value so we went with James Aubusson and Riley Brown. Freddy may have been a bigger fan of his (than Anderson).''

It doesn't matter any more, with L'Estrange now comfortably in Manly colours until the end of next season. The crafty 23-year-old said he is expecting a verbal onslaught from his ex-mates tomorrow afternoon.

"A few of the (Roosters) boys have been texting me and leaving me voice mails, but it's all in good fun," he said.

It was no laughing matter the last time the Roosters travelled to the northern beaches with Manly dusting them 56-0. The result ensured Anderson's NRL career came to an abrupt end. L'Estrange played that night for the tri-colours, a game he now chuckles at.

"I came on towards the end when they scored most of their tries," he recalled. "It wasn't a good day. They dominated."

Something he hopes Manly can do again.

"The boys have trained the house down and we can't wait to rip in," he said. "Dessie (coach Des Hasler) has pulled me aside a few times this week and asked my thoughts on a few (Roosters) players and I know he will have a few other plans up his sleeve."

Manly centre Steven Bell will play his 50th game for the Sea Eagles tomorrow afternoon.
