A loss this weekend could see us out of the eight

That's what's broken my spirit, Newms. Just not at that level.
And I hate to say it, but with an ageing squad I don't see that changing in the near term

That's why I can't comprehend why we signed Tupou, unless he has taken a massive pay cut - more than 1/2.

Anyway, it's not so much the ageing squad that costs us, it is the heartless culture that the club has (combined with the ASADA crap) that will see us continue to suffer.

I maintain that we have the team to be a contender but for some reason we fall in a heap when it matters. We are soft....that performance last night letting in so many easy tries on our goal line was crap. Why don't we show some fight defending our line??

We've got the squad (bar 1 or 2 backs).........Just not the Coach, I'm afraid
Whoda thought at the beginning of the season( apart from their fans) that an unknown Pommy coach could get the Rooster rabble of players performing like they are!?:(

Yeh the more I think about it, the more I think the Tupou resigning was a "jobs for the boys".

He is very close to his squad, which is a good thing .....but is he too close??

That's about the only thing he's got going for him. He cannot coach attacking / enterprising football. He doesn't make our ordinary backline better, so we can at least hold our own. We never do anything different - I won a $1,000 off my 10 year old last night after I bet him we kick off to Mitchell Pearce - for the 3rd time in a row within the first 8 minutes. I must remind him he owes me that ;-)

Problem is we have peaked already and a team on old legs aint going to get any better with the likes of injuries etc. I might have been a bit tough saying we aint a good team - (combination of mexican food and VB - ouch), on our day we look the goods, just aint that lucky to get that "day".
Year in year out, we are cruelled by Origin injuries, ben pommeroy, rained out matches, the list goes on...only to fade out at the end of the year.
Could be a while yet before this changes, and i mean a real while.....

I didn't, BUT I did think they had had the best recruitment in the NRL. SBW, Maloney and Jennings (& losing Braith lol) for starters. I think that, along with a good coach, is what has put them at the top of the table.
