My uncle was recently going through some old coins and found a token for Leichhardt Oval , i presume it was a turnstyle token. My question is how long ago were they using tokens ? I think i remember in the 80's you would pay your money and get a token to chuck in the turstyle to get into the ground, does anyone have any memories of this ?

thanks

Yeah, I believe the turnstyles were updated just before the Wests Tigers started up.

Not entirely sure when the turnstyles that used the tokens were installed though, it would have been well after it was first used, maybe in the 50's and 60's etc.

Give Balmain Leagues a call and ask.

You had to Que to get a token than Que again to go through the turn styles, it was a pain in the neck. Not sure when it was given the chop, but I think it was in place during the super league war

I'm getting all misty seeing that photo, what great memories of all the thrashings we got at Lidcombe over the years that brings back.....and the occasional victory of course :D
