Simple really, most people go to a sports event if they are neutrals because of the hype and for the "event". SOO has that hype and is well known as the pinnacle of RL in this country. Simply put, Int RL has been neglected in this country for so long that the Kangaroos simply do not have a presence, profile or "event" status.
Don't believe me? Tell me the SOO attendance v's the Kanagarros attendances over the last 20 years!
Lol, seriously. You're struggling. Both games could pull a crowd if they were promoted. But it would be surely easier to promote two better teams, playing - these days - infinitely better football, that people can actually relate to.
Again, Roar vs Sydney FC, or the socceroos? Far easier to promote.
I will never take a SOO match to Perth- it does not involve them. Put frankly..you get 50,000 spectators at Suncorp, 50K at Telstra Dome, 70K plus at Telstra Stadium..why would we take a game to a venue where
a) it would hold less
b) AND MOST importantly..it takes over 4 hours to get to Perth! Teams play on Friday..dare I say most sides would not be too thrilled with their players travelling for 8 hours on a plane in the leadup to a match!
This topic has been discussed more than Ive had legovers! Now c'mon boys, we all know Perth will get a club one day when the dopes at Philip St and Fox stop taking those damn pills!
