Adrian Knox field
A field of 14 fillies will take their place in the $125,000 G3 Emirates Adrian Knox Stakes over the 2000m, the final lead-up race to next Wednesday’s G1 AJC Oaks.
The Kevin Moses-trained Paulini will back up after her solid fifth in last Saturday’s Arrowfield Stakes but her chances this Saturday have been dealt a blow drawing barrier 13.
The real improver in the field is the regally-bred Graeme Rogerson-trained filly Dane Tristalight who has drawn barrier 3.
Other notable acceptors include Anapine (11), Fancyfree (9), Super Lacuna (6), Involve (12) and Guy Walter’s two fillies Operetta Lass (8) and Raheights (10).
The field and barriers are below:

Super Lacuna is good value at 15's. 3 starts back was only just defeated by Goldtown and has finished off well in both last starts. From the gate, Clark will have her positioned well and she'll get her chance when they turn for home.

I like the look of Operetta Lass's previous run behind the fav for this. Got well back and finished hard. From the 8 gate, Bossy will have her closer in this. Can't leave Dane Tristalight out, has won both her previous starts nicely.

Paulini beaten by 5.6l behind Serenade Rose in the Arrowfield last start. You'd expect SR to smash this lot so treat Paulini with respect here. Beadmans ride, Alberghetti was a nice run last start at Gosford. Should run well.

Racenet Preview -

Race 2 EMIRATES ADRIAN KNOX STAKES (2000m) at 12.25pm

Joice’s thoughts – Tricky race. Happy to bet around the short priced elect Dane Tristalight. She is racing well in easier races but offers no value at the 6/4 mark stepping up to Group 3 grade 2kg over the limit. Ex Kiwi Fancyfree can only improve on her Aussie debut when unsuited around Kembla on a ‘sticky’ track. Blinkers go on. Paulini looks to represent good value at around the double figure mark. Solid fifth last Saturday behind Serenade Rose and company. Guy Walter has a heap of fillies down on the limit and surely one of them will jump out of the ground up to the 2000m – I am hoping it’s Beadman’s mount.

Payne’s thoughts –Dane Tristalight just keeps on improving and is the one to beat here. She did plenty of work last time out but still gave them a belting. Raheights is looking for this trip and shows a bit of promise while I’m expecting an improved performance here from Freeroller.

Joice’s Tips – Fancyfree (4), Paulini (1), Alberghetti (9)
Payne’s Tips – Dane Tristalight (3), Raheights (12), Freerollow (4)

Bugger! My wife said to me before they jumped - "I thought you don't like backing apprentice jockeys".

Well, maybe I should listen. Clark got it well back on the rail and when turning for home she got stuck behind the favourite who was going backwards faster than forwards. Had nowhere to go and had to go round, lost all momentum. Don't think it would have beaten the winner, but should have finished closer.

If only I discounted the horse because of jockies, I would have ended up with the winner :x
