There has been a rise in the number of AFL players testing positive under the AFL's controversial drug policy. Over the last year the number rose by two to 14.

Thirteen of the positive tests were for stimulants and just one for cannabis.

The number of players on their second strike remained steady at two.

What the hell? Imagine if this story was about rugby league... it would be massive. Why doesn't anyone care what AFL players do, I would expect this to be back page, hell maybe even front page, it would be in the Daily Telegraph if it was about league. But I just had a look on the Herald Sun website, there is hardly a link for it, just a tiny little line down in the sport section. The story has even completely disappeared from the Fox Sports home page.

It's just frustrating.

No fun without player names.

Doesn't help that the AFL released the news as being a good thing.

Perhaps if AFL was popular in most of the country, it would be front page news.

If papers like the Sunday Telegraph want to have such concepts like an "AFL BACKPAGE" perhaps once in a while they can use said backpage of the sports section to, I don't know, actually report some of these negative stories don't you think?

What's with that backpage AFL bullsh*t on a Sunday?

Did the AFL pay for it? Most probably.

Future fumbleball star or old childhood pic of one of today's great AFL role models.

I always find it funny that the West Australian papers are lucky to show a NRL game review 6 pages deep, but are quite happy to put a whole page article near the cover when the sh*t hits the fan (like with storm cap). Obviously not the same knives are being thrown over on the east coast.
