Our five Fansplantees made the long journey to Aussie shores with little knowledge
about our country, and absolutely no knowledge of our great game. But with the help
of footy mad Aussie households, they’ve learnt a drop punt from a banana kick and
are now well and truly Footified. http://afl.nab.com.au/meet-the-fansplantees/

He’s a skilled field hockey player, dancer and Bollywood aficionado. Kumar is a huge, huge, huge fan of his beloved Indian National Field Hockey Team, and came to Australia with absolutely no knowledge of the physical majesty of the AFL. However, with the help of Kumar’s footy mad adoptive Aussie family, they were destined to well and truly Footify him. - See more at: http://afl.nab.com.au/fansplantees/kumar-gautam/#sthash.i0M1kNF6.dpuf

The Bonds are very passionate about AFL. Father and son play for their local side; the Holroyd Parramatta Goannas. And that passion has an extra dash of Latin heat, because Jason, the father of the family also has his Chilean mother-in-law living under the same roof. They were the perfect match for Kumar.

i'm sure Kumar is enjoying his free trip to Australia. I suppose I would pretend to be a mad sumo wrestling fan if I got a free trip to Japan out of it.

Meet Mai
She’s not just a passionate fan of the Hanshin Tigers baseball team; she’s also an official beer girl at Koshien Stadium. She likes wearing her pink Tigers jersey and shouting through her matching pink mega-horn. Before arriving in Australia, she’d heard of our very famous physical sport; she just wasn’t sure what it was called. Safe to say that with the help of Mai’s adoptive Aussie family, she won’t be forgetting the name of our great game anytime soon – nor the Carlton Blues song.

…her new family.

The Flights are Blues through and through and despite living in Yarra Glen, they never miss a game at the ‘G’ or the chance to don the navy blues. Father Chris, is the local NAB AFL Auskick Co-ordinator, and is used to having his hands full with his own two footy-crazed sons, so no doubt he was destined to be the perfect fit to Footify Mai.

Japanese baseball fan Mai Tamaki attended a special NAB AFL Auskick clinic in Yarra Glen last week, as part of NAB’s Fansplant campaign.

Mai, who had never heard of AFL or Auskick prior to arriving in Australia, has been Footified with the help of her host family, the Flights, who are passionate Carlton fans that never miss a game at the ‘G’.

Father, Chris Flight, who is the NAB AFL Auskick Co-ordinator at Yarra Glen, put on a special NAB AFL Auskick clinic as a farewell to Mai before she returned to Japan.

NAB Fansplant is the latest chapter in NAB’s plan to Footify Australia, further demonstrating their commitment to growing the game.

Five NAB ‘Fansplantees’ were selected from India, USA, Japan, Spain and Sweden after an extensive international search and were flown to Australia to be Footified.

NAB has been supported throughout the Fansplant process by footy-loving ‘host families’ who were tasked with the role of converting

Fansplantees into AFL devotees. As a thank you for their efforts, each host will receive a VIP 2014 Toyota AFL Grand Final experience.
