Such are the obvious mismatches, the TAB has refused to back Auckland.
Some good games this week all the same,

Otago v Counties
Northland v Southland should be a ripper.

The TAB head-to-head odds for the opening six matches are:

Otago $1.40 v Counties-Manukau $2.80
Canterbury $1.07 v Hawke's Bay $7
Auckland - v Manawatu $80
Northland $1.75 v Southland $2
Wellington $1.15 v Taranaki $5
North Harbour $1.45 v Tasman $2.60

Its a shame its not shown in Australia. There are a lot of insomniacs who would benefit.

It's on Foxtel actually, just like all the other Rugby here.

Wellington $1.15 v Taranaki $5
North Harbour $1.45 v Tasman $2.60

Good odds on Taranaki it would be worth throwing on $10 also not bad odds for the Tasman game which in effect is Canterbury B and with Tod Blackadder leading from the front.

Yeah its much worse than watching Eastwood take on Penrith or some other boring Sydney club clash.

Otago captain Craig Newby out of Air New Zealand cup after suffering long term shoulder injuryA major injury blow to Otago after just two rounds of the Air New Zealand Cup.
Captain Craig Newby has been ruled out of the rest of the season with a long term shoulder injury.
He is set to undergo surgery later this week which is likely to leave him on the sidelines for a minimum of four months.
Otago coach Steve Martin says Newby has been troubled by the shoulder for a while and made a difficult decision to have the operation. It also rules out any chance of an All Blacks appearance on the end of year tour to Europe.

canterbury set to also get around the one transfer of an all black per season by getting rico gear (on loan - rico suppose to have a clause in his contract to allow him to leave nelson bays)

so when is chris jack going to be loaned back to canterbury

Rico's so worried that the AB's wont notice him in a team getting thrashed each week. If all other potiential players see it that way the top and bottom teams will not even out.

Tell that to a top player in a team getting thrashed each week. I bet they dont see it so black and white.

I agree re Rico having to stay put.

But it will stop future top players from signing up with lower ranked teams.
