Aitken and Flo

After watching the replay of the game it's clear to all that there is a defensive issue there with Flo.
But is it also Aitken at fault here with this sliding style of D that seems to get them caught out?
It also looked pretty clear on JAC's 2nd try that Euie needed to jam up and in to put pressure on the catch and pass from storm. Not 100% sure but is it a contributing factor in Flo being off his wing alot and him seeming unsure most times on our line. Either way, a fair bit of work is needed there as teams are gonna start coming harder down that side more and more often.

I am surprised that teams haven't been doing it all year.

Didn't Matt Shirvington try his hand at league? Or was it Darren Clarke or both ?? Didn't help did it?

I just feel they're not on the same page a fair bit in D where Flo is being caught off his wing from rushing up and in where Euan is sliding across.
Surely they are told/coached to do one or the other and whatever it is, do it together. There was one occasion where they put him into touch but there was a fwd pass involved. That was with sliding defence and Flo staying out so maybe thats what they should stick with.

if they get the defence set correctly not many tries will be scored down that side.
Flo runs in and the pass goes over the top and it looks horrendous but in complete fairness errors on the inside also contribute to the problem but Flo does have a propensity to do it when it is not remotely necessary (also did if playing for NZ) and that is an error in his decision making as he thinks he can nail the centre.
The defence can be fixed to a point (save his brain explosions to run in) but the other issue, in that he cannot score a try from more than 20 odd out will always remain.

I think that friz made some poor decisions yesterday, and allowed munster to skip to his outside. When he does that, the centre and winger have to retreat and slide, as Hunt needs to take Munster and flo and nighty have to face three attackers.

I've got confidence that friz will work on this, and Munster is no mug. They'll sort it out.

Yes, i noticed that as well. Frizz being beaten on the outside by Munster who correctly, is definately no mug, was a contributing factor in Flo's decision making. This probably came down to fatigue also due to all Frizz's hard work but hopefully he can fix it up. Agree though also that poor old Flo just does not have the pace anymore to help him which makes it even harder for him.

Yep.

That third try was definitely on Friz. Munster got around him which meant we lost our numbers on that play.

Aitken and Nighty couldn’t do anything about that one.

Some impressive analysis from OT, SBD and Mick the Dragon! Yes there were certainly serious problems on the right side defence. This limited my enjoyment of a 20 pt victory over the Storm. We looked vulnerable there all game. But as a long time Nighty fan I was at least pleased to see his determination to put Addo Carr over the sideline and then get snappy with Munster when taken over the sideline himself late in the game. There was no doubt he was very cranky with 3 tries down his wing. It will steel his determination to ensure that work is done by all the guys on the right in combination to ensure this does not happen again.

we compress in defence ... everyone knows it ...
However if you have the slowest winger in the NRL on the outside of that compressed line you are not giving the team an opportunity to turn out and cover ...

Addo Carr scored one try in a metre of space on the edge with Nighty to slow to turn out and pressure .. Vunivalo last year scored a hat trick on the other side against him in similar fashion.

It is time.

Well the winger is the only bloke who can see everything that is unfolding and edge communication and number counting has to start with him .. I am sure our experienced leader is all over this - I mean the edge looks to be working so well ...
