Why was Russell Aitken chosen in the Sharks 17 for todays game?
How long did he play for? And how long was in his favoured position?

A WASTE OF A PLAYER.
A WASTE OF AN INTERCHANGE.
A WASTE OF SPACE.

He can tackle though. O'Meley had 20m and ran straight at him and Aitken got him.

I agree he was a waste today though.

I agree. seeing a quality player like kent on the bench while aitkin has a run looked ridiculous to me.

THANKS LOLESI, I WOULD NEVER HAVE KNOWN.
Aitken's spot would have been better given to ANYONE else. I'm sure there's someone in Premier League that can tackle O'Meley.

He was on for about 13 minutes. We didn't have much ball in that period, and as I said in the other thread the game had been lost in the period just before he came on. I can only fault him for not bombing when he was about 40 out. Otherwise went close to scoring a couple of times.

Aitken's biggest problem is obvious. The coach doesn't really have faith in him.

Well why pick him?!?
Give that spot to some big bopper. We don't need a 5/8th on the bench.

Well when you do not have one on the field, id rather have one on the bench.

Yeah would have rathered him had a full PL game rather than have to go through that. He didnt really do anything wrong but having said that didnt get a chance to show what he is capable of as the Bulldogs ran riot when he was on. I would still like to see him get a full game next to Kimmorley for interests sake but it wont happen.

You gotta feel sorry for him a bit. As ali said the coach hasnt appeared to have shown much confidence in him.

He took a couple of options wrong against Penrith and was targetted in defence, and wasn't given a second chance until today. Raper has been equally as harsh on Galloway. I do believe if Raper had treated them as he has treated Simmons, we would be reaping the rewards by now.

Kent had 2 misses that lead directly to trys today, will he be dropped?

Raper has been doing a good job, but my main critacism is he not showing enough faith in 2 of the most talented juniors that have emerged in the last 20 years.

Was a waste of space.. He didnt do anything wrong apart from a horrible chip kick, because he didnt do anything...

I agree that it was a wasted interchange player, and you cant blame the kid for not showing much, he came on the the last 13 mins and isnt the sort of player that will make a difference in that time.

Also agree that he was a bad choice for an interchange player for a game against the Bulldogs. We should have had another forward there instead.

I'm surprised Raper took Kent off once Aitken came off. When I saw the team sheet, I expected Aitken to come into 5/8 and Gallen to go to second row, with a second rower coming off...hence having the same effect as having an interchange forward. Gallen is an 80 minute player.

Could we have afforded to try it though, Simmons has been a liability at times but then again so has most of the backline this year.
I just dont think he has the skills to make up for his lack of size.

That's what I was expecting.
Or Aitken dropping back to PL, and a forward coming in.
Strange move.

ditto. we sure could have done with another big unit against the dogs, like newton or galloway. kent and sully is enough in the nippy playmaker stakes without adding another like aitken.

stuey... please explain

We should have had an extra front rower. Far more impact and we could have kept up with their pack. 13 minutes? what is that?
