The NSW Cup is set to receive even more mainstream exposure in the upcoming 2011 season thanks to an all new extended version of the NSWRL Show on Fox Sports.

For the past five years, the premier competition of the NSWRL has aired weekly courtesy of a one hour highlights show on Wednesday afternoons on Fox Sports but with the ink on the new contract having just dried, the show is now set to be expanded to 90 minutes.

This additional time will allow for a whole new dimension of the NSW Cup to be explored as explained by David Tapp, Managing Director of Power Productions Sports Television.

“I’m delighted that Fox Sports and the NSWRL have agreed to expand the weekly NSW Cup coverage to a 90 minute program,” Mr Tapp said.

“It will obviously enable us to show more of the game itself and also we will now have the time to incorporate more interviews and far greater input from our sideline commentator.

“There will also be more cameras used too as we move from a three camera coverage to five, so overall the 2011 coverage will exceed previous years without a doubt.”

Bob Saunders, NSW Cup Manager feels that this extended program further illustrates that the NSW Cup competition is the premier second tier competition in Australia.

“Clubs have realised the benefits that the NSW Cup provides as a genuine pathway for their aspiring NRL talent and recent graduates such as Ben Barba (Bulldogs), Gareth Widdop (Storm), Anthony Mitchell (Eels) and Kane Linnett (Roosters) are only a small microcosm of the players who have launched their NRL careers via the NSW Cup in recent times,” Mr Saunders said.

“On any given week fans at home and at pubs and clubs right around Australia will be able to see some of the country’s best emerging talent playing in a prestigious competition that has well and truly stood the test of time.

“And I am extremely happy that they (fans) will now be able to enjoy this extended coverage in High Definition with even more highlights and deeper analysis of our marquee matches than ever before.”

The new and improved NSWRL Show on Fox Sports will now be aired on Wednesday afternoons on Fox Sports 2 and Fox Sports 2HD from 4.30pm to 6.00pm (AEST).

Should be awesome! Can't wait. People talk up the Q-Cup but between this and the radio stations that stream LIVe games on the weekend, I reckon the NSW Cup sh*ts on it to be honest
