NEW INITIATIVES ON CROWD BEHAVIOUR AT BULLDOGS MATCHES
Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs CEO Malcolm Noad today announced new initiatives on crowd behaviour at Bulldogs home matches for the remainder of 2005.
Noad said, After spending the last 18 months working with our fans to ensure that everyone who comes to a Bulldogs game has a safe and enjoyable experience, the actions of a few have undone some of the progress we had made.
Friday nights firecracker incident was totally unacceptable. We wont allow the reputation of the Bulldogs to be at the mercy of hooligans. The club will now clamp down on these elements, effective immediately, with the help of the NSW Police and Telstra Stadium.
We know the true fans will support these changes and continue to back the club to the hilt.
The initiatives that the Bulldogs Club has implemented recently include a Fan Code of Conduct, a Bulldogs Policy against Misbehaviour and replacing the Bulldogs Army with a Registration Rewards program. These initiatives have met with great success with almost 8,000 Bulldogs fans registering their support for the Fan Code of Conduct and over 900 applying for access to the Registration Rewards area.
Unfortunately, a handful of troublemakers have made a concerted effort to undermine the enjoyment of others and have led the Bulldogs Club into making further changes.
Effective immediately:
1. General admission (GA) tickets will no longer be available for purchase to Bulldogs home games.
2. Reserved seating (only) will be available at Bulldogs home games and can be purchased pre-event from Ticketek agencies, call centres or at the venue on event day.
3. Proof of identification will be required to purchase tickets at all future Bulldogs home games. This applies to pre-event ticket sales and walk-up sales at the venue.
4. The maximum number of tickets that can be purchased by an individual patron will be four (4) per person.
5. The Bulldogs Registration Rewards area will be disbanded for all remaining home games and Bulldogs supporters who have previously been seated in this area will be required to purchase a reserved seat within the reserved seating areas.
6. Anyone ejected from Bulldogs home games for breaching the Code of Conduct will face bans from games and potential police prosecution.
7. Drums and other musical instruments will not be permitted into the venue.
8. Flag poles greater in length than one metre will not be permitted into the venue.
9. Visiting Club supporters will continue to be provided with a dedicated seating area but all seats within that area will be reserved.
Anyone failing to abide by these new initiatives will be removed from the venue, may be banned from all NRL games and may face potential police prosecution.
Ticketing changes will not affect Bulldogs Season Ticket Holders who already have reserved seats.
I hope Bulldogs fans realise the position the club has been placed in and will support the decision. Our motive, first and foremost, is that fans who come along to our games will not have to put up with a small band of hooligans whose goal is to disrupt others.
