1. B Morris
2. Lett
3. Scott
4. Boyd
5. Sailor

Unlikely that Bennett will go for it as Boyd has much safer hands and stronger tacking than morris...but this backline would be more threatening and provide our strongest individual attacking force (bmoz) more ball and a roaming license and boyd one on one. Lett is a very good player and would provide a little more more than nightingale at present and would be awesome on the same side with boyd.

Nightingale is a better fullback than Morris but it's moot anyway because Boyd won't be moved unless it's to the centres and we'd have to have at least 3 centres injured.

Morris is the best attacking option from fullback, Boyd is the best defensive one. Nightingale is behind both these guys on the depth chart

To me, fullback is the most important defensive position on the field (regularly saves a few tries per game), so I would leave Boyd where he is, he is familiar with the position, and has rep experience under pressure.

Having an attacking fullback like Slater or Hayne is just a bonus imo.

If Cooper is gone, its time to settle on a backline and give them 2 games practice before the finals. What scares me is that Stanley keeps getting the nod, but I just don't trust him, he has great days, then other days where he drops the ball and mises tackles, which is a chink in our armor.

this is all assuming cooper is unfit...he looked a shadow of his former self on friday...although bennett is a huge fan and if he's even semi fit he'll probably stick with him. Sailor is great for the team but he has an obvious predictability about his play leaving our right side devoid of flair when combined with a former 2nd rower scott. Love to see brett roving around...even if he stays named on the wing

Boyd has been brilliant this year at fullback, as has Brett Morris on the wing.

Leave them where they are.

1. Boyd
2. Morris
3. Scott
4. Cooper
5. Nightingale/Lett

That's the best backline we could produce.

correct me if i'm wrong, but sailor is our 2nd top tryscorer this year..

happy for there to be minimal 'flair' if it gets the required results.....

i said the same thing on friday night, wendell brings so much to the team, you can't blame him for the loss, also hornby looked to get injured early on, maybe why he was a bit quiet, anyway i hate losing but you have to accept them, hope we get them out of the way before the finals start, bennett is too smart to let it happen for long.

I dont understand the above??? We are top of the ladder and everyone wants to make changes!!!

We have lost a few games and everyone is in panic stations! Why fix what isnt broken???

The whole post is about how we adjust to losing Cooper... how do we re-arrange the backline?

in my opinion, the backline is broken though.. even when Cooper is on the field, he is just not himself. I cant remember the last time Cooper looked to make a break, or have the speed to go on with it if he did, and it has to be due to the foot injury.

Lastly, having Cooper+Sailor means there is very little firepower/speed in our back 5, however they are both very solid defensive experienced players, which lets be honest, we would prefer over someone like Stanley who can be blistering in attack but also not reliable in defence.

I still dont understand your post.

If Wayne Bennett did not want Cooper to play or believes he wasnt up to it he wouldnt play him. Enough said. I think it is pretty fair to say that if Bennett had a better option for centre. He would use it. Or is Bennetts coaching being questioned here???

Stanley blistering in attack? i think not, the reason for keeping Cooper there is for defence. Imagine having Stanley and Morris along side each other defending... They arent exactly the leading defenders in the comp....

Sailor no firepower?? From what i remember Brisbane scored because Taylor was able to go through our defence, not around... through! Why have speed if the defence breathes on you fall over??
Besides Sailor is the biggest talker on the field and keeps the team going - i for one would sacrifice speed for Sailors experience and the sheer motivation he brings to the team..

Sailor is surely only in the side for his experience and motivation he brings, apart from that Nightingale is a much better alternative.

I think Sailor is great for the club and will lift after the loss to the Bronco's. If not they have great cover in Nighty and Lett
