Alternative Jersey

Have to say it. The 2002 jersey the Warriors pulled out is perfect.

10/10 got it right.

They got a lot right about the jerseys this year. To start, there's only four of them instead of a million, and even better, they're going to wear the primary black jersey as often as possible, even in some away games.

For both sentimental and asthetic reasons I really like the 2006-2008 away jersey, the one we wore when we upset the Storm.

It's quite cruel really but the more modern the jersey the less likely it's going to fit around the midriff! On that score the original 1995 one still fits great, with plenty of 'give' down below.

It's being pedantic but there's at least one more jersey to add to the list, it's exactly like the 1995 one but with the NSWRL logo instead of the, then, new ARL logo which they wore when they ran out onto Mt Smart for their first regular season game.

The NSWRL logo was used in 1993 and 1994 when Warriors jersey's hit the shelves. Prime Minister Keating was given one with his name on the back when visiting NZ in 1993. Always wondered what he did with it.

I currently have a 2002 Warriors jersey in my closet that I received in....2002. It still fits and prior to receiving a 2015 jersey last year I used to wear it occasionally to games etc.

I've never felt so old.

haha, well I got given an XL when I was really no bigger than an L. Baggy clothes were more the style then too. Fair to say I've grown into it nicely.

I've still got a 2001 Jersey I bought that year and it still fits me. I probably only weigh 3 or 4 more kg than then then though.

100% agree they got the jerseys right this year, especially the Heritage 2002 one.

My favourite Warriors jersey though will always be the 2003 away jersey.

My fave is still the 2011 heritage.
It cracks me up still that my 2006 home jumper still doesnt formefit my arms, even when I gained 10kgs.

A gray uniform is always bad luck, not just with the Warriors but any team, even the All Blacks.
Hope they wear any colour except gray or brown the week.

West Indies were awesome in the 1980s-1990s in their super grey! Although, I'm sure it was officially 'silver'.

The 2003 season is lost on me, probably because the memory bank is focused on the more successful 2002 season. But we were pretty bloody good in '03, ay? I often hear we were even slightly better than we were in '02. In both those seasons, of course, we played our last game against the premiers, Easts and Penriff.

The other night Lisone reminded me of one of my old favs, Iafeta Paleaaesina.

In my honest opinion I thought we were better at times in 2003 than we were in 2002, despite the personnel we lost at the end of '02 (Cleary, Campion). In the early rounds of '03 we were just as good as we were in '02, but the finals series and the games leading up to the finals was the best footy I've ever seen the Warriors play. We won two of our last 3 games going into the finals without Stacey Jones, and the two teams we beat were no slouches (Brisbane and the Roosters), then hammered the Dogs in the QF. Unfortunately for us though the draw wasn't kind due to finishing too low on the ladder and we had to face Penrith to get into the GF, when we should have probably been playing them in the GF. I don't think we've ever played as well since, even though we made the GF in 2011.

The jersey was the black with the grey V, and the away jersey was the opposite.

Paleaaesina actually got mentioned in 9's commentary on Thursday Night, Joey compared Matagi to him. He was probably the closest thing to Feka we have gotten since he left, though Lisone has shown glimpses of it too.

2003 is the first Warriors season I can recall with clarity. We were astonishingly good, a lot of the time. The only other time I can really think of is a period in I think 2007 or 2008 where we were blitzing teams by halftime (30+ points on the board) which was equally as amazing. It just didn't stick as long as 2003.

Just watched some highlights of the 2003 season and it confirms what's been said here. It's all explosive back play and mobile forwards. They're fast, creative, they take risks which come off (yeah, I know, highlights often do that!)

But look at the scores, we demolished teams on both sides of the Tasman.

Our boys of 2016 look ineffective, clueless, plodding in comparison. Betcha our squad's worth a lot more now too on a free market (inflation-adjusted).

No point living in the past though, I'm far more interested in this Sunday arvo than anything that happened 13 years ago.
