An Idea From Left Field

I've had an interesting thought, hear me out on this one.

Cooper Cronk has made it clear that he wants to be a coach at some point.
Seeing as his wife lives in Wollongong and is a huge Dragons supporter herself, I would be approaching Cronk for an Assistant Coaching position at the Dragons whenever he decides to hang up the boots and begin his pursuit of a coaching career.
Think about it... He's disciplined, intelligent, represented the game at all levels, creative, he's been a part of the Melbourne structures for years, he's been under the tutelage of Bellamy.

I can only see an upside to this. Thoughts?

If Mary's coach I doubt he would want to sign with the Dragaons as a player let alone an assistant to Mary a year or two later. I mean what could cronk learn from Mary.

Drink Driving, Jet Ski Pilot, Tree Cutting, Head Shaves, Tries from kicks don't count, there are countless things he can teach Cronk.

Your assessment of Cronk is spot on.
I don't believe he will play for another club but would love to see him at the Dragons in a specialised coaching role of some sort.

I really like the idea T.R.River , the man is the complete professional , and as such , would make an excellent coach , for exactly the reasons that you have suggested .

Unfortunately , I believe that he had said previously about a career in the Television industry , perhaps to replace 9's expert Ray Warren .

But getting back to your idea , that certainly has merit , and who really knows just what is in his mind at present . Would certainly be a great inducement to place in front of him , along with a contract of lesser dollar value, than what other clubs may offer .

I think the dogs are probably most likely to sign him & then use him in a coaching capacity. They are desperate for a half.

As for your idea TRV I could live with this but I'd be very surprised if he came to us, after all what can we offer him.

Cronk has no experience as acoach. He would need to spend some time with the juniors and/or a few years in the super league.

Cronk is not a coach. He may be one day however, he will need to do some time learning the trade first.

Gareth the problem is we have won 3 games and all of a sudden everyone ( me included ) forget how bad it can get with Mary coaching . While everything is going ok with the team , Mary looks like a world beater . Soon as things dont go his way he finds every excuse under the sun not to take the blame . I remember teams that scored from kicks dont count ...... Mmmm how many did we score from kicks on the weekend ? Great that we are winning and it looks like we are going to resign him , for me I've had enough of him win or loose .....
