I remember back when Fitzy was signed, there was quite a bit of talk that it would not be an immediate success.
Rather, focus was put on 2025, with the belief that that would be enough time for the best of the current batch of players to have reached 100 games +, some other talented juniors to have been brought through, and some astute signings to add the finishing touches.
Well, here we are.
So far, to my eyes, it's pretty much played out as those in the know said it would over the first three years of Fitzy's reign.
We've got Brails, Brit, Ronnie, Rambo and more all over 100 games together, Cam, Herb and Nicho have been great additions, there are a stack of youngsters nipping at their heels, and AFB is the icing on the cake.
So much can happen between now and the first weekend in October but, all things being equal, we should be up to our necks in it come that time of year.
I haven't felt this excited by our prospects in 30 years, when the likes of Peach, Rat, Riston etc we all coming into grade.
The difference this time around is the first grade squad is already at the top end of the table year after year.
I feel a golden era coming on, premierships or no.
Good times ahead.
