Meh, still the effects of new coach bounce IMO. They were wrong in sacking AVB.

Having said that I do believe he deserves to coach next season, but it's far too early to judge him yet.

WHat are this man's thoughts right now. He must be in complete shellshock.

Long live Player Power at Chelsea.

Chelsea just delayed the inevitable transition period where they clear out the squad and revitalise it.

I maintain they shouldn't have appointed AVB if they didn't want him to clean-out the side.

On the other hand RDM has a pretty handy resume now, hasn't he?

Jose's six trophies in three years was a pretty good effort, but two trophies in two and a half months is something else...

Wow. They just won the Champions League. I'm glad they delayed the transition (AVB's favourite word) period. Thank god they sacked him, I knew it was the right call, and now were on top of the world.

Anyway, I agree in a way. Chelsea need to revitalise. However they should do that by clearing out the real junk like Malouda, Kalou, Ferreria, Bosingwa. Why should they clear out their veterans?. They are still their best players?? They are the heart and soul of the club. AVB didn't understand that.

He was very naive. I agree with you that they may have given him a brief to clear out and in that case they should have appointed him in the first place.

However basic man management failed this guy. He proved a dud, 100% dud. SOme of the articles i'm reading in the last few days are just alarming about the lack of communication skills AVB had. The way these guys performed the last few months has given this bloke the biggest slap in the face one could imagine.

Di Matteo got instant success with a squad you reckon are ordinary. I don't think it was any out of this world management. He just played to Chelsea's strengths, and coaxed the best out of every single one of them. There was no tactical genius.

AVB to Spurs all but confirmed. Wow.

I tip him to be a bigger success at Spurs than he ever would have been with Chelsea.
For one, our roster suits his style far better.
Secondly, he won't have the same kind of back room pressure he had from Abramovic, a scary prospect for any young manager.
Thirdly, our squad is young and doesn't need a massive clean out in the next few seasons.

That isn't bias talking mind you, that's just common sense. We have quicker defenders more adaptable to his high pressing defensive line, who have the speed to cover up long balls over the top and defensive mistakes.
Our midfielders are used to enjoying possession and trading it around with ease, whilst having the pace to make explosive use of the counter attack. That and we already have good out and out wingers, we don't need to put players out of position (Sturridge, et al) to make up a front three.
I'm not at all saying we are the better team, we just suit AVB more than Chelsea did.

Big rumour I saw was that Moutinho is coming as the "Modric replacement".

You went backwards in the league.

You went backwards in the league.

Carfactor = zero.

Bottom line is Di Matteo guided us to another double and the most successful season in our history.

We won the big games. Mentioning going backwards in the league is ridiculous considering it was a lost cause when he took over.

Sure we went from 5th to 6th but that doesn't tell the story. No mention of the fact we were playing every 3 days for 2 months. No mention that we had a very hard run in fixture wise in the league. No mention that the last few games meant close to nothing.
