Someone with a legal background???

What's the go around filming?
My understanding was that someone can record you, but it can't ever be publicised, or shown to a wider audience without consent.

Am I way off?

There can be no reason for abusing a junior ref.

Yeh, because Jnr refs are perfect. Some of them are absolute f**kwits. Not like they do it out of the goodness of their heart. They do get paid alright money.

A Nrl player attacking one though is just f**king stupid.

There can be no reason for abusing a junior ref.

Obviously I'm not condoning ref abuse, but not everything is clear cut in this case
Without knowing facts it's hard to comment, but maybe David was raising legitimate player welfare concerns with a ref ( refusal to stop play for an injured player) and discussion got heated. The ref filming might have made the whole situation worse and Andrew knowing that things like this can be taken out of context and that it would do a lot of damage to his brother, his club and the nrl, made a misguided attempt to get the ref to delete ( obviously he went around this in the wrong way, but I can understand his anger at someone trying to set up his brother in that way).
Now obviously this may be far from the truth, but the fact that everyone on here are pre-judging the fifita's and calling then brainless thugs I thought I'd try bring a little balance to the discussion ( it was written by buzz rothfield after all)

Maybe

Maybe I can create a scenario that makes a player that I like to be a victim. We just don't know

Bloody hell there some sickos on LU.

Now some dopes are saying in support of the Fifitas that:

- David had a right to swear and threaten a A grade ref in the Penrith JRL (that is right - junior rugby league) because the refs didn't stop the game for an injured player. Whether that is right or wrong or inbetween, it is no justification

- Junior refs are paid, so they can expect threaten behaviour to them

- Andrew, realising it was not looking good for David because mobile phone footage often gives the wrong perception coolly ask the ref for the phone or I wil snott you and needs to be held back by 3 Pattie boys (but he was being reasonable, controlled and in the right).

All I can say is ole David Smith must be saying, "what the f**k did I get myself into" when he accepted the CEO role.

Just one f**k up after other. but it is all the presses fault.

Obviously your having a go at my post.
I never said I supported fifita or that I condone the abuse of refs
We've only heard one side of the argument and we are already pre judging our players and hanging them out to dry
everyone is already calling the fifita's braindead thugs and we don't even know all the facts
even if the story does come out as true, and the fifita's are in the wrong, I can still see where they are coming from., one was a trainer looking out for his players, one is guy looking out for his brother and while it's definitely the wrong thing to do, it far from makes them brainless thugs who abuse refs for no reason

I have called no-one brainless. I, in a general sense, just believe the modern pro footballers are, as a group, lacking normal social skills to the point it has become a bloody circus. Every week a new eposide of how not to behaviour.

Someone has got to send these prima-donnas out to work on a daily basis so they can learn normal behaviour.

There can be no justification for 90% of the shit that goes down. They are way past normal members of society.

Be more of a drama queen you f**king goose. f**k you can dribble some shit. If you're getting paid to do something expect criticism. If a ref is a being a shit merkin, i'll let him know what ever level it is.

Ref abuse is something that happens literally every weekend with normal members of society.

It depends on the situation and level of abuse. At an NRL game calling the ref are cheating prick from the grandstand, fair enough. However threatening personal injury to a ref at a park footy match is not the action of a normal member of society.
