International brand. Lol.
I can just see the baseball fans of Japan, the downhill skiers of Switzerland, the German football fans and the NFL loving Americans becoming huge Dragons fans.
Hang on are there any international fans in this forum right now?

Do you think Ian only got the job because he was Bob's son?
How did he get the jobs at St Helens, Wigan, Castleford, NTH QLD Cowboys, Raiders?
Maybe, just maybe, after the death of his son he wanted to return to Australia and be close to his family, close to where he was born and grew up. He was extremely employable based on this previous resume but chose to come home to illawarra and work for the club he played for as a youngster. Is that so weird?
I would say that there were no favours here, no jobs for boys, just a highly talented assistant coach/recruitment person that had come home and taken a job in his chosen profession.

Hello Samy, I hope all went well with your op! Looks like your back and at it. Most of us who have been around when St George won 11 years in a row are very sad at the state of our beloved Club at it is now. Most of the decline is due to:

Nepotism and corruption within the Club.
The existence of an old boys club.
Not adjusting to the modern ways in Club administration.

Millward is not the cause of all evil but he is the result of dirty deeds done between factions at the Club. Same goes for Graig and Dean Young. I believe our Club will never reach it's full potential again unless there is a cleanout at the top - the St George Leagues Club Board and the way the St George side of SGI Board is selected.

Members should choose those Board Members and their jobs should come up for election each year.

I agree with a lot that you say mate.
We need the club to be run like a business, by professional's.
Not a old boys club.
You are right with craig young ect.
But you have to give credit where it is due.
Millwall has over all done and is doing a good job.
Which can of cause be done better but he dose well with what he has.
Mate keep up the good fight.
My dad allways told me about the golden era. I want us back where we belong too.
I want a team that is competitive ever year and regularly winning the whole thing.
Keep up the good fight possm.
One day it may change.

Here is Millward's record abroad and if you take out the 1st line it is abysmal.
You would have to ask how he got the job at our club because none of it is particularly great reading.

Son of board member gets high management role after mediocre-at-best results elsewhere in the industry = no jobs for the boys.

Give the guy a break. He is doing OK.Some Dragon supporters are never happy
If someone wants to talk him up because of his achuevements abroad then they deserve scrutiny which is what was provided
If you think they stack up then good for you but I think don’t think they are something to hang your hat on.
If you think doing OK will land you a premiership so be it but in the real world you need better than OK and to date he hasn’t done that IMO

Judged on results to date he has more than a pass mark.Should we be in the lower portion of the table then he has issues.
We do have a good squad but we are let down by our inept Coacing Team

Has anyone read the new JT book? Millward gets a mention. Not exactly a glowing endorsement....

Heaven forbid that our own past players say anything anti club but a complete outsider saying something, now that is just not in in this place, so I look forward to seeing the hate JT thread.

Ha ha!
More ammunition for the hate JT thread.... Saints were the first club to approach him.... He could have been a Dragon!

Well I don't know how anyone could give Millward a pass mark! So let's just forget about the past and look at our current problems with regards to our squad:
Fullback We are looking at Hayne for fullback only because we did not replace like with like when we let Dugan go. Dufty does have more attacking skills and great acceleration. He anticipates well and can setup and score tries with ease. But he can be unreliable when it comes to taking the high ball, defending his line, being in the right position at the right time and he lacks the size and strength on kick returns to make the necessary metres expected from a first grade fullback. Like other players in our backline, Dufty fell away when the opposition dominated us in the forwards.

Wingers In 2019 we will have two very in experienced wingers. Let's hope they really step up.

Centres Aitken and Lafai would have to be two of the least reliable centres in the competition. Others on here may argue the point however, history will show there is very little interest in these two players from other NRL clubs and that any move to another NRL club would be at a much lower salary. I'd say these two players are ESL bound.

Halves SGI have two of the best halves in the competition however, they really only perform well when our forwards are dominating. Our depth in the halves - Field and Nichols is a problems as neither of these players is seen as having the ability to step when required.

Props We have a mixture of experienced and highly talented props and young props with potential in our prop rotation. Last season showed us that we were at least two props short and that when our props were injured or fatigues, they were expected to play on rather than be replaced. With LAM leaving and replaced by K Sims, I still believe we are one first grade prop short. If two of the young props do not find their feet in first grade in 2019, it is likely we will experience the same problems and results as last season.

Backrow We do have a top grade backrow combination and the depth to go with it.

Hooker McInnes and Robson make a good hooker rotation especially because Robson can also play in the backrow. At a pinch or as a shock weapon, Hunt can also be a game changer at hooker.

With the above appraisal in mind, it is my opinion that our NRL player squad is not as good as it could/should be. To rectify this SGI would still have to move on 3.first grade back and recruit a fullback - marquis player and maybe a winger fullback and a winger centre both with speed and great defensive skills.

So why are we in this position? Where has all the salary cap gone? To me it is very obvious that we have spent a significant portion on our halves and retaining our forwards. We can only hope that we can manage our cap in a way that replaces our fullback, one centre/fullback and one centrewinger for 2019.

Perhaps he has in mind us spreading our "brand" by playing our home games in the UAE and Qatar where its too hot for sports fans to go outside but there's lots of oil money and product can be bought for local television. Remember the electric atmosphere (not) when the Australian cricket team played Pakistan in empty stadiums recently.
