Which club sides would he make… bearing in mind he apparently can’t make ours…

It’s no obviously at Penrith, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cronulla, Roosters, Dogs, Manly, Souths, Tigpies, and us according to the coach, probably not at Canberra, Titans, has to beat out the coach’s son at the Dragons etc etc

He’s a decent depth guy…

If you looked at him as either a 6 or 7, I actually think there’s a few teams that’d start him.

Both Souths and the Cows likely have rookie halves debuting this weekend, TMM would almost certainly play over those two lads.

I think the Knights would take him over either Cogger or Sharpe, and the Dogs would have a good look at him over Sexton. I also reckon Ivan would play him over Cole.

@JJ basically tapped into one of our issues- most of our frontliners are actually depth guys, really...CNK was at Canberra before he came to us. Arguably, DWZ was an offcut. Pompey. Kosi. Martin. Clark. Ford. Harper. Boyd. Not only do we have them but we keep on signing them

On the plus side we won't be walking a tightrope anymore in regards to injuries with 'all our eggs in one basket'. That 'lose Johnson, lose the season' scenario has passed.

Part of the issue of that is we haven't developed anyone and brought them through from junior footy for a long, long time. OK, the COVID years were unstabilising and we didn't have pathways, and they've only started to develop recently.

But last year, we didn't bring anyone through to go closer to front-liners. As I said in a thread, basically none of our under 25 guys have played more than 7-8 games. Last year was a perfect opportunity to blood young talent and it didn't happen.

It's always going to happen that we sign guys who are depth elsewhere, whilst we capture the odd front-liner for whatever reason (Barnett, Walker, JFH, RTS) which is probably due to paying overs or unique circumstance like JFH.

But we aren't going to have enough NRL quality players if we can't keep guys like Zyon in our system, or we don't put the time into Leka, Demetric, Ali L, Pasikala etc.

Yes and I feel like that's on Webster- again, his bench use and his favouring of spuds like Ford

Martin is NOT World Class...at all.

He's handy, yes. I think he is of NRL quality, yes. But I'd argue he's not one of the better NRL quality halves running around, let alone described as 'World Class'. If Webster really believes that TMM is world class, then he must think CHT and Metcalf are world class as well if they continue to get picked ahead of him.

FWIW, I'd actually prefer TMM to be selected over CHT. I think he's more likely to spark something than CHT is. I do like TMM BUT I wouldn't go as far as calling him world class.
