Considering it's the Warriors I generally fear we're going to lose a few of them, especially as three of them play the same position as our newly acquired young pommie dude.
I'd like to know what the plan is, we will be overflowing with backrowers - presumably some will end in the middle?

Niukore and Capewell will move on. Maybe Ford too.
Capewell I'd expect to finish up yea. Think Niukore and Ford will stay though.

Webster is the president of the Jacko fan club and tbf, he's been pretty good since moving into the middle. Marata can play middle and given neither Bunty or Ale have been extended yet (unless I missed it...?), at least one of them is probably gone next year so we'll be short a middle.

So if Capewell leaves and Marata extends as a middle/edge replacing Bunty or Ale... that leaves room for Laban and young Ieremia-Toeava to be extended and hopefully own a couple of edge spots in the squad long term.

Meanwhile Vaimauga is locked in till '28 anyway, and Halasima till '27... but I'm sure they'll extend Leka sooner than later. Especially after hearing Billy Moore throwing his name out as a Bears target.

Why would Niukore move on? I don't see Jackson Ford moving on, Webster loves him more than any other coach in the comp, and I'm not being critical when I say that. I would see Ford's value here to be much larger than anywhere else, unless he continues this patch of form for much longer.

Because we dont renew his contract? Im talking regarding their contracts expiring. Players dont have a say if we dont want to retain them. Hes on big money.

Still early days, but the great thing to me is that we have a clear way of going about it. The game plan, what 17 guys are trying to achieve is crystal clear. And whilst some of it no doubt is structure, some of it is just effort and caring about the guy next to you. That's able to be replicated each week, which is why we've been so consistent (bar Melbourne) since Vegas.

There's going to be slip ups but even yesterday, we had a ton of momentum against us and I reckon more than half the comp would have succumbed to the pressure the Cows put on us. But we stuck at it. That was so satisfying, and we've done that a few times this year.

It can both ways where guys stay in the side too long but Webby has invested in guys where we would have axed them, and they're playing big roles.

4 out of our next 5 games are away, so there's a challenge ahead of us

Dragons, Dolphins, Raiders, Rabbitohs, Sharks

3 wins would be great
You'd have to think that would be a fair goal given our form. Four away though, we've proved to be impenetrable at home but only the Raiders is at Mt Smart.

3 out of 5 going into a bye would be a result, I'd take that now.

Raiders is post Origin 1 though, so that adds to the challenge for the lone home game.

We'll likely lose Barnett and maybe Capewell, while the Raiders could lose Young and maybe Horsburgh. And then its a 4 day turnaround and who can back up.

No way Capewell makes it....they have rich back row stocks. Don't think Horsburgh will, either. But yeah the other two will.

Amazingly, there will probably only be 1 player from the Dogs Storm Raiders and Warriors, who are all top 4. Dogs will have Crichton, maybe Kikau (is he eligible?) and that's it. Melbourne maybe two - Munster and Coates?

Not sure about that.
Bulldogs will have Crichton, & possibly Kiraz depending on injuries to Toó & Lomax.
Canberra will probably have Young & Horsburgh.
Warriors will have Barnett.
Melbourne will have Munster, Grant, Coates & potentailly Leiero.

Preston would have been there or there abouts too, Burton too?

Lots of middle backrowers yep but Nanai was the only genuine edge player they had last year, although Loiero was 18th man in game 3 from memory.

But Billy seems to like Capewell's ability to cover centre at a pinch like he did in game 2 last year, and as he's been doing for us. I dont think (?) they have any other backrowers who can do that so he could get a crack. And he's definitely playing better this year than last (missed tackle count aside).

Both deserve to yea, but they just have a logjam ahead of them if everyone else is available.

Even if Preston beats his crusher charge, Martin and Crichton are the incumbents and haven't done anything to deserve being dropped, while Olakauatu has also been solid and is probably a better impact option from the bench.

Burton is worth picking just for his torpedo bombs alone, but unfortunately he wont start in the halves ahead of Cleary, Moses or Luai, he wont get a centre spot ahead of Crichton, Turbo, Latrell or Best, and Watson covers just about every position on the pitch so will be hard to shift from the 14 jersey.

Unless there's a bunch of injuries/suspensions, it'll be a tough squad to crack. Good for the Dogs though.

Sorry I got this wrong... we actually play Canberra the Sunday before Origin 1. So both teams lose whoever is selected while they're in camp.

But if its Barnett as expected, that could be offset with Fish being back that week.

They'll lose Hudson Young, maybe and Papalii, perhaps.
