Tonga rewards Buldogs' support
June 21, 2006
FORMER Test centre Willie Tonga has re-signed with the Bulldogs for two years.
Tonga had been expected to test his value on the open market after the NRL's June 30 anti-tampering deadline. But the 22-year-old, who had been linked with a switch to rugby union, said today the club's support of him during a long injury lay-off last year helped him make his decision.
Tonga, who has played six Tests for Australia, missed most of 2005 with a knee injury and is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Will the sharks be able to find a centre for next year?
