Manly forward Glenn Stewart faces four-to-six-week ban at NRL judiciary
August 30, 2010
Manly lock Glenn Stewart may have played his last match for the season, after being hit with a grade five striking charge by the NRL judiciary.
Stewart appeared to strike Roosters captain Braith Anasta in the face with a cocked elbow during the Sea Eagles' 30-14 loss on Sunday at the Sydney Football Stadium, with commentators questioning why he wasn't sent off.
The former New South Wales and Test backrower is facing four weeks on the sidelines if he takes the early guilty plea or six matches should he fight the charge and lose.
The maximum six-week penalty would end Stewart's season, while if he cops a four week ban, the Sea Eagles would have to make the grand final for him to play again.
Roosters forward Daniel Conn copped a grade four charge for a careless high tackle from the same match, however he's facing just a week's suspension if he takes the early guilty plea.
