What are these other ways Feddie? I've been approached for jobs by people I respect. But if their offer isn't the best offer on the table then I don't take it. Haven't you heard, I'm living in a material world and I am a material girl, biatch. The only way to stop this is to lobby through the commission (given its Australian that probably won't be effective) or find financing to provide something comparable (which is highly unlikely). Essentially what will keep happening is some ambiguous kiwis over here in Australia will deflect to NZ when they see Origin is not going to be on for them, and the top Kiwi talents who don't end up at the Warriors will play Origin... unless you can change either the rule-set or the financial aspect.

Well first off you are presuming that with every young Kiwi prospect that it comes down to a money decision, which isn't the case. With some it may be, but with plenty they want to play for the Kiwis but with repeated approaches by Maninga and whoever about an Origin opportunity this is where they may start to get swayed. We should have someone like Wiki in contact with them regulary making sure they stay committed to the Kiwis. A classic example is when Kemp went over before the ANZAC Test to talk to Taumalolo, he wa there for a week or so and admitted he didn't even go and see Kasiano or Norman who supposedly is also eligible for the Kiwis. Useless.

The NZRL had been in touch with Kasiano, exhibit A your honour, the signed letter of intent.

As I understand it, they have also held Kiwis clinics in Australia for a few years now which involves the likes of Ruben Wiki, Tony Iro, and I believe Nigel Vagana to talk to young New Zealanders living in Australia about what it means to go into the Kiwis camp. From that they've had a good success rate (of course, until uncle Mel comes in with a wad of cash).

If money-bags Owen Glenn wants to do something for New Zealand league, maybe he could fund an incentive for playing for us? Whether it be match payments for internationals, a Kiwi domestic series, whatever. Just something to financially compete with the origin lure.

They need to improve the quality of food served in the Kiwis catering tent.

Beef and Chorizo in Freyas vs Mad Butcher "beef" pre-cooked in River Mill?

Because SOO is mate vs mate, for true blue Australians, not to be infiltrated by the Bro Mafia. So instead of opening the borders, they simply transform Kiwis into Australians.

Which is ridiculous really, its an Australian event which should feature Australians only imo. This sort of nonsense dilutes the quality of our Kiwi team.

Yeah I know Wiki talks to the Junior Kiwis I think which is good. He should be in Kassiano's ear right now. I'm not sure if Vagana would be involved or not since he is involved with the Samoa team now.

Yeah they have been in contact with Kasiano obvisouly in the past, but how stupid is it that Kemp goes over there for a week or whatever to do this job and doesn't even go see Kasiano when he was being chased by QLD? To be fair this situation comes down a lot to Maninga being a grade A scumbag and Kasiano not being able to stick to a decision.

What eventually it's gonna come down to in the future is that we will have to start having at least 3-4 guys picked for Tests (who might not deserve to be picked on play alone) along with a couple at 18th or 19th men who are promising younger players just to lock them into New Zealand.

If we named 20-man teams (with 3 to drop off), would all those named players be legally locked in to New Zealand? If that's really all it takes, we were stupid not to name James Tamou last year.

Not sure to be honest.

And I don't think so really, last year he got named in the train on squad and had never showed any interest in switching and had played for NZ Maori so can't really blame them for not selecting him just to lock him in. He wasn't on the fence, he had pubically declared he wanted to play for New Zealand. Thats why its funny to listen to those redneck Australians try and defend him playing Origin and for Australia despite his selection going against everything that Origin is supposedly is.

Origin or-i-gin noun

1. The point at which something comes into existence or from which it derives or is derived.
2. Ancestry
3. The fact of originating; rise or derivation

Ive searched high and low and I haven't found any definition on your first senior club determines your origin.

Think the state of origin needs a name change.......

I'm actually amazed that this shit is allowed to go on, it should be the players who makes the decision without Mal, Ricky or Paul influencing it. State of origin is starting to be a joke.

The Kiwis should fight dirty and select these promising guys early and strategically, especially for games that are not against the Kangaroos. What about that game they defaulted against Cook Islands last year, what if they had played Tamou Kasiano and Tamalolo in that game? The NZRL are gonna have to be street smart and more ruthless to beat these descendants of criminals who already have the upper hand.

has been since Tonie Carrol and Karmichaels days...

Haha oh yea, that's why I stopped watching it the first time. Might be that time again.

So I guess the motto is: when your losing, pick a kiwi.....I mean an 'ex' kiwi.

I would totally support NZ refusing to play games in which Tamou or Kasiano were selected in the Australian teams (or Australia refusing to play us with Webb or Fien).

This is a dead argument fellas. I agree with your sentiments but the rules of representing a nation in league or rugby are very loose at best. Your very own Henry Paul and Leslie vainakolo have played rugby for England. What a joke. All we can do is wait until someone stands up and decides that you play for where you were born or else you don't play rep footy fullstop. Will stop Queensland being the cheats they are by taking Folau ansd Inglis from us. Sterlo was born in Toowoomba so I think he should have played for Queensland. Us taking Tamou was wrong.

Agree to an extent, but the Kiwis jersey should be about rewarding the top 17 at any one time. The Junior Kiwis and NZ "A" are games to see what blokes are about. In fairness to the Cook Islands idea, Taumololo had barely played first grade by that point, and to be fair, Tamou was only just starting to turn his form around.

With the rules as they stand this is the only thing the Kiwi's can do. Against 2nd tier teams we will have to field a team of emerging stars.

There is an enormous amount of Kiwi talent coming through the grades in Australia so this problem is only going to get worse.

I cant blame Tamou & Kasiano playing Origin for a 150K a series..i wouldnt knock it back.

The Kiwi's should take it as a compliment. Australia are so desperate to beat them they have to steal thier players:D

Can't do much... Maybe the NZRL could start getting some sort of a NZ equivalent of Origin in motion, clubs won't enjoy that though and then questions about scheduling.
