Late news(2UE and Foxsports) advise that Cameron Shepherd winger for the Waratahs was charged by police with mailicious damaging a vehicle earlty today.
Police said two 21 year olds were arrested for allegedly kicking the doors and roof of a car in the inner Sydney suburb of Pyrmont shortly after 5-00am.
The pair will appear at Downing Centre Court on April 11th.

This sort of thing is now not confined to one particular code.Crocker was fined already by the Roosters $10,000 for his public stupidity (a brawl),and awaits a charge of affray.
When will these pro footballers ever get the message.
The survey by the S12 players that some of their players had a drinking problem,is becoming more too obvious .
OK if you want to be stupid enough to get plastered do it,but dont damage other people's property.
I was brought up on union, and know there are hotheads playing that game, just as there are hotheads playing rugby league and AFL.the trouble is that it has taken many years for some union fans to even acknowledge that it goes on.Mr Fitzsimons may now get the message in black print.

It never has been.

However as rugby league is by far the more popular game here, reports on their players' behaviour will always make bigger news. Maybe the increase in interest in union players' bad behaviour is a sign of the code's increasing popularity here?

why would any type of stupidity be confined to one code, or even football in general

I agree. If a Union player in NZ makes an arse of him self then it will be the main story in the 6 oçlock news and front page stuff in the local rags. Hewitt and Rush comes to mind. League on the other hand ??? I cant think of anyone. Toopi ? didnt he get into a bit of bother ? but nothing like the coverage a union player gets here.

It has always been known that there is a drinking culture in union within NZ nothing new there.

The impression you get from the newspapers in Sydney with comments by opinion writers, letter writers and reporters ,radio commentators over the years that this sort of thing doesnt happen in rugby union, and as far as AFL goes is rarely reported in the Sydney press.
My point and you all agree it happens everywhere, but I have to say that some people out there in union land didnt believe so until lately.
I dont know how many times, I have had verbals with friends who are union supporters and acquaintances say union has a tight rein on its players and the anti social thing doesnt happen in that game.
The number of people on talkback radio who said drink is not a problem in union, where are these guys living ?
Suggest you listen to Mike Carlton on 2UE this morning acting like an apologist for Harrison whilst interviewing him,and his almost disregard for Shepherd alleged incident. The whole session smacked of a massive spin.
To use the argument that because a game is more popular it has its incidents more exposed.OK then in AFL Melbourne where league barely cracks it on the radar screen, that any incident receives massive publicity in the media.

Maybe there was no reason for the all those journalists to write about .
Now in the last years and with this incident . They have alot to write about .
Do you want the journalists to follow the players around 24/7 to see what sort of people are they .

That is rather sad. Though once a player is known to make a d!ck of himself he is always going to be watched. Look at Warne I am sure the Jurno's know sooner or later they will get another fantastic story out of the guy. Did you guys get any coverage about Tuffy in Aus ? if that had been Warne it would have been on talk shows, papers, news 24/7. Tuffy got his 15mins of fame here but nothing to the extent that Warne or Mason would have got in Aus.
