As mentioned in other parts of this forum, the way a club is run has a big impact, while not one to defend Mary he had selection taken out of his hands and before that recruitment Millward still with the club has a lot to answer for. The board should have just sacked Mary and not turned us into a laughing stock. Now the club resigns HOOK for another year, without debating if that is a good or bad decision you must ask why, was hook in big demand (no) but why make a decision that early on in the year without any need.

I almost choked on my pie when I heard HOOKs assessment of the success of his changes working?
….Only got the recruitment taken out of his hands late in his tenure, as they had appeared to have lost confidence at that stage.

Tackle 1: settler.
Tackle 2: settler.
Tackle 3: settler.
Tackle 4: painfully lethargic spread at ever-increasing angles toward the sideline to an outside back with no space for a slow play-the-ball.
Tackle 5: kick it straight to their fullback.

Where do I send my CV?

That actually made me laugh as it is incredibly accurate. I feel like I just watched every Dragons game from the last 8 years after reading that.
Now I feel like crying but great post all the same.

Is it just a coincidence that what I am thinking will be the bottom two clubs this year (us and Tigers) are joint venture clubs with highly paid(or over paid) half backs that aren’t delivering and coaches that have failed to turn them around. Or, is it because the boards are split between the two ventures and the best decisions are not been voted up. Let’s face it yesterday was a disgrace and a loss next week is good bye 2022.
Hunt has been our best all year.

Bro, you don't have to police the forum, you do you mate, let others post their concerns, I think they're pretty valid at this stage, one or two wins from the past 12 rounds.....

Isn't his post valid as well we played two red hot teams the last two weeks and although well beaten i think all the player's put in as long as they keep doing that i won't moan like a lot of other so called supporters.

He also plays behind a forward pack that has a go week in week out too

Sharks have had a better 10 years than Saints and they even had a cheating scandal and bad press within the period yet have been able to recover and be competitive every season. Saints had none of that and they have made 1 final series. That is because the Sharks would never put up with the crap the coaches have put out, have kept a good roster and given their young guys a go. All of which Saints have failed to do in 10 years. Sharks sacked their latest coach and his team was still in the 8 from memory or close to it.
Remember when we used to laugh at Cronulla (or THE Sharks as they were then known) for being a bunch of pretenders with a soft underbelly and no silverware in their trophy cabinet?

It seems like so long ago now, but I remember it so clearly...

Bro, I’m providing perspective and not blowing up after a couple of loses to tough opponents.. if we lose to tigers and bulldogs then we will have a problem, bro…
It’s not so much the losses, it’s the way we’ve lost, and the makeup of the team, we gambled so much on young guys who have made way for journeymen. We dropped Sloan and Amone by round 4, imagine someone told you before the season that our two young guns would be dropped by round 4.
Troubling.

loss is one thing ( we are used to it) - reaction the other. We'll know the big slide is on if Hook stubbornly doubles down and has the old stagers vs the rabbits - it will smell like Corey Norman 21'.

Souths are a fast moving side who roll the ruck and then spin the ball to that lethal left - our best half of football this year was vs them in CS and that was w Sloan and Amone. Bird was just getting his sea legs at 2nd row - leave him there. Mbye is 14 at best and relieves the tortoise when he goes from dawdle to treadmill (55th min??)

I can agree some choices are head scratchers however I'm not blowing up at the coach. He knows how to bring through juniors it is proven. Sloan did nothing in reseverve grade and got sin binned... doesn't exactly scream pick me, I am certain sloan and Amone will come back in soon and get their chance. just will take time
