I'm starting to get the feeling that Arthur doesn't really rate Norman. The only good things I've heard him say about the guy were some non-committal stuff in response to a question in the early part of the season. Maybe Arthur isn't as dumb as he pretends to be.

You don't go from captain coaching in country footy at 22 to NRL coach with out playing in the NRL if you are stupid. The guy knows his footy.

?I only spent 12 months at Manly and saw how he operated there and he was busted all the time.

That was 2 years ago and Watmough's body is a lot more busted now after 288 first grade games.

Manly were glad to get rid of choc and his ego.

yet he was still your best forward last year....go figure

That's why Choc is more valuable to us than a Trent Merrin. Tepai Moeroa learning from him like he did Kennedy? Mouth watering....

Not only Moeroa but even Ualesi maybe we will finally see him unleash the amount of potential he has. The blouse is HUGE could be awesome for us.

Really liking the sound of what Arthur is implementing at the club. I think we will see another ice to Tim Mannah next year with a bloke like Choc there

so.....should choc be co-captain alongside timmy?

No, i think all he needs to do is lead by example. He's a leadership figure already he doesn't need a "c" next to his name for people to see that i'd give it to someone who is younger and who has potential to be a leader and who we want to stay at the club for the long term. I'd love to see Peatsy get the co-captain gig

we will soon find out...Matterson is coming through the ranks so he could put pressure on Norman

I dont know whether you can say BA does or doesnt rate Norman based on comments this year alone. If we can recognize that Norman played busted for most of the year BA would know this too. Normans form in 2014 doesnt warrant praise but his selection in every game over Kelly shows BA rates him higher then Kelly.

Norman or Kelly.Intresting one. Honestly not a lot between them on last years form.If anything Kelly has a better kicking game.

About rnd 12 Norman looked like he could start to come good. But his first year at 5/8 he deserves more of a chance-Especially being injured. He seem a smart guy.

Still very young, so worth a try.And if Matterson comes good or we sign foran we aren't held by the balls to sign Hoppa.Norman can move too fullback.

Have too keep in mind thou he ended season playing reserves for Brisbane.

I'd definitely take Norman over Kelly

but having said that I assume Norman is getting paid overs for what he currently seems capable of - just saying he's better than Kelly .... Norman actually had some pretty good games last season - mixed with some quite poor ones

Norman was every bit as good as Matterson at the same age.

If not better. Matterson is 20 this year and hasn't played first grade. Norman made his NRL debut in the year he turned 19 and by the time he turned 21 he had played 21 games.

Matterson turns 21 next year. The year Corey Norman turned 21 (2012) he played a full season of first grade and played in the finals.

Norman is only three years older than Matterson.

We need a 5/8 to be smart between the ears and playing injured wouldn't effect that.

He certainly is 'smart between the ears'. If you're thinking of all the times nothing was on and he held the ball and stopped dead, that's much better than forcing the pass and turning over possession. I wish more players would know when to fold 'em.

Where being uninjured would help there is that when he decides to hold the ball he will be better at taking on the defence and making a break or quick play-the-ball.

That long ball he threw out to Semi against Melbourne took some smarts and some skill to pass that far. He also looked a lot better when he had Tonga, and Ma'u on his outside. I think he'll look even better with Ma'u back and possibly Takairangi on his outside.
