Are people going to ignore the blow up from our captain?

I take it your referring to Lockyer reacting after he was tackled in the air. A couple of words and a finger in the air, geez what a disgraceful captain  . Lockyer has never done anything to drag the games name through the mud, hes one fo the few actual role models the game has, sadly we can't quite say the same for Andrew Johns.

He was playing to the whistle, he did all this while playing the ball, what a multi talented guy ;-) .

He is the Best player in the World i have know idea why people knock him, publicly he never puts a foot wrong yet people whinge about him. Newsflash he is the Current Australian Captain you don't get there by being average.

You're kidding, right? He was an inch from the ground if anything. Rabs seemed to think, on replay, that he was touching the ground.

That said, I don't really care about him blowing up. It was more passion than most of them showed.

That's all fine, in-goal. This is just highlighting the boring old "Johns spits his dummy" rubbish and showing how contradictory some people act. I couldn't give a stuff about the incident itself, yet people have become just as defensive about it as Newcastle fans have become in the past. This is just some food for though for people.

An inch is all it takes, we didn't get the Aus commentary in NZ but using Rabs opinion to back up your point isn't the best way to go about things. Its a very serious rule not to be taken lightly.

Watch the replay, Redneck Lockyer hit the ground just as Vagana hit him. He can blow up all he wants, the fact is the entire commentary team and the ref disagreed with him.

I agree with DMC. I can't say I blamed Johns for 'spitting the dummy' when his side lost a semi final to get into the GF. I never saw the bad thing about showing a little passion.

Yet Tallis sledges Walker when he played the Roosters and punches MacDougall after scoring an Origin try and no one cares.

Tackling a defensive player in the air is a very dangerous act, and Lockyer was rightfully upset that he didn't get a penalty.

I watched the replay and he was clearly in the air when contact was made, thats all that matter and should've drawn an instant penalty because of the risk of injury to the player being tackled.

Lockyers Dummy spit or what ever you want to call it had no real implication on thefollowing set of 6 he still got to his feet and played the ball.

He is one of the few all round class acts in rugby league on a nd off the field i think bagging him is unjust and i find it a bit offensive myself.

lol How can you call Lockyer a redneck when you are the one from Armidale!!

And by the way, he was clearly in the air when he was tackled...I watched it too and the commentary team did not all say he was on the ground.

It's about double standards, in-goal, not insulting a player. You've missed the entire point of the discussion. Frankly, I find it hilarious that people are quick to jump down some player's throats for similar incidents while others are ignored simply because no-one is brave enough to put a bad wrap on them. How do people get their bad wraps in the first place?

I agree with Lockyer anyway, he was taken in mid-air. But that doesn't mean he shouldn't play to the whistle and get on with it.

Think before you talk mate. Armidale has a University. They also have one of the best communications and theatre faculties. That's the only reason I'm here.

I thought the tackle by Vagana was legit and if Lockyer's feet were off
the ground then they would have been by less than an inch and the
ref (despite the rest of his woeful rulings) would not have spotted it.

Good on Lockyer for showing a bit of passion and having a bit of a blow up.....it's what I expect from professional players...and a captain.

Cheers

Yes it's the technological center of Australia.

He was just rolling out the same stereotypes you were. Perhaps you should take some of your own advice.

Think before you talk mate.

Back on topic I don't understand what the big deal is? If there's one captain in the NRL that hasn't reacted like that to a ref's decision this season, I'll eat my keyboard.

That's right, G_G. They all do it. Yet only one gets picked on. That's the deal with the thread. Its just a curious observation I had from today's game.

How about Johns having the gumption to try a banana conversion from 10 metres out and up by almost 40, then getting bagged when he missed it. Yet no-one cares that Lockyer threw intercepts and blew a couple of last passes for trys, missed a few last tackles on the line and Brett Kimmorley cops most of the shit for today's loss?

I thought the criticism of Johns was to do with him blowing up at his team mates for mistakes which is really uncool.

Surely you can see the difference.

What is that difference, Kimmorley scores trys and Lockyer butchered them?

And Johns cops criticism for anything he does on the field. Surely you've noticed that.
