Arizona at Carolina Divisional Playoff

The NFC Divisional Playoff at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET between the NFC South Champion Carolina Panthers (12-4) and NFC West Champion Arizona Cardinals (10-7) is a rematch of an exciting regular season game. In that contest, the Panthers came back from a 17-3 third-quarter deficit to defeat the Cardinals, 27-23, on October 26 in Charlotte.
The rematch is a result of a 30-24 victory by Arizona over Atlanta in an NFC Wild Card game last week. The Cardinals used their potent passing game, a rejuvenated running game and swarming defense that held Falcons running back Michael Turner, the NFL's second-leading rusher, to just 42 yards on 18 attempts to win the franchise's first playoff game since 1998. The Panthers enjoyed a first-round bye after finishing the regular season with the second-best record in the NFC.
The first postseason game at Bank of America Stadium since 2003 will feature two contrasting offenses with Arizona moving the ball through the air and Carolina staying on the ground. Despite the differing styles, they yielded similar results during the regular season with the Cardinals averaging 26.7 points per game and the Panthers scoring 25.9 points per game.
Arizona ranked second in the NFL in passing with an average of 292.1 yards per game during the regular season. Two-time MVP Kurt Warner, who led the NFC with a 96.9 passer rating, directs the Cardinals aerial attack. His primary targets - wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald (1,431), Anquan Boldin (1,038) and Steve Breaston (1,006) - became only the fifth teammate receiver threesome in league history with 1,000 yards apiece.
Carolina, on the other hand, finished third in the league in rushing offense with an average of 152.3 yards per game during the regular season. The Panthers rely on the tandem of running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Williams set team single-season records with 1,515 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns, while Stewart established team rookie marks with 836 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.

last time the cardinals lost by 3, but threw the ball 50 times and ran it 14. they also attempted a fake field goal at teh end of the first half in a close game.

they could spring an upset of warner plays well.

Carolina, because they can run the football.
The Cards are built to pass and that’s not because the coach wants to but he has two WR’s that demand the ball and their QB is very good at it.
The Cards D looked good against Atlanta and stopped Turner but the Panthers have two good RB’s and a seasoned QB.
Panthers win easily.

dont forget that Edge got beat out by a rookie who looked good for all of one game. They had no running game, Edge brought it back against the Falcons which was why they won that game

ill agree with that, it seemed that james having such a distinct role in that game took atlantaa by surprise. however the panthers will be expecting this now, no doubt.

Dragonfire,
As I was watching the Falcons v Cards I was hoping like crazy the Cards would not abandon the run and they didn't, they did just enough to keep the Falcons defence off balance.
You’re possibly right they set up the run with the pass but, the Panthers have a running game that can control the clock, they don’t have to rely on Delhome to gain 1st down on 3rd and long very often.
Deangelo Williams and Stewart running the ball is pretty awesome.

Carolina will do it and do it well
hopefully the eagles can get the job done on the Giants, which would set up an absolutely awesome game between the eagles and panthers... winner of the superbowl will come from the NFC i think

Warner and Fitzgerald are killing the Panthers.

Warner is looking All-World there today while the Panthers qb Delhomme is looking pretty ordinary. Warner is being helped by some good play by his offensive line who are handling a very ordinary performing Panthers DL with ease.

Not sure what the Panthers defensive plan was or is to handle Fitzgerald. He is making it look so easy.

The Panthers are not out of it, but they need to improve a hell of a lot in the second half. Or else this could be a cricket score.

Nope, didnt know it was on
thought it was on later tonight

Just saw the result, will have to catch the reply, must have been a stellar game from Warner-Fitzgerald, i really thought the panthers would do it easy... although from reading this thread, Delhomme sounds like he had a stinker... 5 INT... Good greif
