Around the Grounds

I’m not sure if this is how the ref saw it live but the one in golden point against the dragons was the player bouncing off the tackle and his hand just got hold of whatever it could as he was stumbling backwards. No intention to strip. Should not be a penalty.

We might have dodged some bullets with Pezet and TDS thinking they were too good to play for the Knights.

Pezet has a long ways to go. He could be another over hyped flop. But if he cannot aim up against his former club and plays like he has never seen their defensive system before, then he will fold under the pressure at the Broncos. Every system has weak points. He should know the
Storm’s by now. He should have had the lead in attack.

For the record, I don’t think Bellamy has ever forgiven Ryles for leaving. That is two absolute bollockings in Melbourne in two consecutive years. Rylesy is a good coach. But god knows why he picked that place. He could be building Perth right now from the ground up. Instead they left it to Mal!

Watching the other games just reminds me how outdated our systems and game plans looked under AOB. It honestly felt like we were playing football from 20 years ago. I know it’s only been one game under Holbrook, but already we look quicker, more modern and a lot more fluid, which is fantastic.

Titans are in massive trouble if this performance is anything to go by. Hopefully they find something between now and full time.

The score in that game last night is not what this competition is meant to reflect. Broncos poor form or not. The ruck has been destroyed by PVL’s obsession of making the game more open. The players are going to be cooked.

And Madge Maguire has somehow not learnt his lessons from Souths. He has seemingly overworked his team in the off season and it shows. Those rumours will gain more strength by the week.

We had the same "he over worked them" comments last year.

Turned out ok.

I reckon with Madge’s resume he can do whatever he wants at this point. It seems like the Broncos old boys have all gotten off his back now (except for Tallis who still has an axe to grind) so yeah I think Madge is on the right track. They’ve started slowly but I think part of that is the insane level of expectation that is now attached to that club, which has ratcheted up significantly since the start of last year.

Warriors next week is a daunting task. Esp when they have 48 hours extra recovery.
At least it’s a home game for us. Big difference to playing over there.

I’m actually surprised how many people think broncos are the team to beat. They had a golden run in the finals but in all 3 games they were down on the scoreboard and came home strong. Cant count on scoring 2 or 3 tries in the last 20 minutes in most games.
They are definitely able to be a top 4 side, but I can’t see them going back to back.
My opinion, Panthers (2021-2024) champion team, Broncos (2025) team of champions.
