Around the Grounds

I thought he was very good early on. Nice try and 2x try saving tackles. Had a few dumb plays with the ball after that. Looked like he was trying to do too much to get them some more tries which I can understand given the circumstances. Looked like they were also being coached to get the ball to the edge with that harbour bridge pass which was really poorly executed every time. They also desperately need at least a competent dummy half.

It’s really hard to make any type of judgement regarding whether Brown will be a good or bad signing for us until he’s actually here. Anyone is just guessing tbh.

Tbf, Ponga hasnt shown much more than Walsh this year. Both are horribly out of form but in totally different ways

Yeah I agree with this after yesterday. I was hoping it was just for a couple of games but he’s clearly in a from slump and his attitude doesn’t deserve selection. I’d probably go with Hammer tbh (although I don’t really care what QLD do either).

Is KP being given much of a chance by his team mates to be in form though? We haven’t held the ball for weeks and denied ourselves any proper attacking opportunities, so what’s he supposed to do?

He's actively avoiding getting into positions to get the ball when in attacking position.

The few times he was in position yesterday, we either didn't give it to him, or he dropped it. So no it's not all on him.

The first part is what I was mostly concerned with. No player is going to be in good form all the time. If KP was jumping in and wanting to be involved and things just weren’t coming off due to his form or bad players around him I wouldn’t care. It’s the fact that he was obviously deliberately trying to stay out of the play. While the halves and dummy half might not have been able to give him the ball, I was watching him closely and I didn’t see him even call for the ball once.

It’s much more likely to be he’s down on confidence than just not caring, however AOB really needs to have a pretty harsh honesty session with him. If he’s too scared to because he’s KP he’d might as well join the unemployment line.

On the other hand you have a player like Crossland who will try and try and try and over involve himself but doesn’t have the talent. I’d much prefer KP having a go and f**king up than being a passenger. As much as people don’t like admitting it, but when you’re the captain and the highest paid player in the game, if you don’t at least try to contribute it’s going to get noticed.

Enough on KP for a bit, has anyone seen the shit coming out of the Lachlan Galvin camp???? Absolute madness...
If half of what has been written about him is true then the kid won't fulfil his potential imo. Seems to have an insane ego that most clubs will struggle to manage. He hasn't achieved shit in the game yet. The halls of rugby league history are absolutely paved with talented kids that didn't live up to their potential. Good luck to the club that forks out for him.

Good on tigers

looks like they offered him overs, he (or his manager) said they wanted to test the market to get a better deal, and tigers played hard ball and pulled the offer instead of getting into a bidding war over a kid with potential

It’s like the opposite of what the knights would do, except we don’t wait for them to hit the market, we just get into a bidding war with ourselves and pay even more overs

Bit of an odd situation all round. Not much point in Galvin/his management putting the squeeze on the Tigers because he can't sign with another club yet anyway. And I'm not sure why the Tigers spat the dummy either when they could just see how this season goes and try to extend him down the track.

Apparently the Galvin camp told the Tigers not to bother with more contract offers as they’d be wasting their time as he wouldn’t be re-signing there under any circumstances. His reasoning that he doesn’t think he can develop at the Tigers under Benji. It’s absolutely mental if true. I think it is though. Moses is a snake but he’s not an idiot. If he puts false information out there about a player publicly criticising his coach that’s not true he’s going to lose a heap of clients.

Makes their pissy press statement make a lot of sense. I probably would have said worse tbh.

Galvin's management team must have been over the moon when Brown signed his deal with us!
Mate, Dylan Brown should now be known as "KY" .
The deal that he landed . . . FIIK how . . . has lubricated and facilitated situations like this Galvan thing and many more horrendous ones to come.
