Ashes Predictions

That's one of the more interesting suggestions I've seen. They should drop Johnson? You are aware of what he did to them last time right? You are aware they are no doubt still terrified of him no matter what they might try to say in the press? If ever there was an automatic selection its him.

Has bowled poorly since that series. He has the first 2 tests but he needs wickets, and he needs to stop being soft and actually bowl quick and intimidate batsmen..which was what he did in that series. He has been a good 10kmph down on pace since that series, and he seems incapable of bowling a lot of chin music and that is one of the biggest weapons a quick bowler has.

Johnson continued to bowl very well in South Africa and against Pakistan in the UAE. Not been so good in Australia/Windies, but (if you believe the stories on CA website) he's been struggling post Phil Hughes death (as you may when intimidation is a huge part of your game).

That is my point. If he isn't 100% both physically and mentally, I don't care who you are, I'd rather play someone that will give 100%. You are a quick bowler, bowl like one. Hate to be blunt but surely after 8 months or whatever it was we can expect our quick bowler to bowl normally and stop bowling party pies.

I know he wasn't alone but I wouldn't call him bowling well in the UAE, none of our bowlers bowled well. South Africa he was good, but was negated a lot post 1st test.

Johnson has bowled quite well since destroying England actually. He is certainly bowling with more consistency than ever before and since the Ashes his bowling average has been 25 across four test series (South Africa, Pakistan, India, West Indies).

His form and the mental edge he has over England means there is absolutely no way that you leave him on the sidelines. None whatsoever.

I hope you are right, I am far from convinced he is bowling well though. His pace was what made him dangerous, he is 10kmph down. No idea why but he is. I actually don't want consistency, I want him being the enforcer like he was in the last Ashes, if it costs a boundary an over so be it.

Hope I am wrong and he has a great series though.

Forget all that shit mate. He will bowl fast and aggressive in the ashes with plenty of chin music music, the poms will shit themselves and we will win. End of story.

Mitchell Johnson has admitted that the death of Phillip Hughes in November 2014 had caused a mental block and a dip in pace.

"I'm not someone who makes excuses, but we went through a bit of a time just before that with Phillip Hughes and that was something very difficult, and it was really hard to sort of deal with it at times," Johnson told ABC. "We were definitely underprepared at that time and my pace was definitely off. "I probably wasn't fully right, fully mentally right, there at that time, so I just got through."

He better, or else he can carry the drinks for all I care. Either bowl quick, fast, short and intimidate batsmen OR don't play. Take your pick Mitch. I swear if I hear 1 more excuse of 'oh but I don't want to bowl short'...I'll dead set lose it. Do your job, and that includes bowling bouncers.

Aus most disappointing Player: Clarke's back, Harris Knee and Watson's hammy will all play up.
Fallout once the series is over for both sides: Aus finally have pants pull down after carrying old and injury plague players. Harris, Watson, Marsh and Watson will all break down during the series.

One prediction true before a ball has been bowled.
On a serious note sad news to Harris a champion bloke and he will be missed.

Smith was top run scorer with 508 rogers 480 Root 460.

You and I were the only ones on here that predicted a England series win
Series Result: Eng 2-1 Rain will deny Aus twice before Poms get confidence up.
Player of the Series: Cook. A win or moral boosting draw will unleash the shackles.
Most Wickets: Hazelwood
Top Run Scorer: Cook
Best player for Aus: Smith
Best player for ENG: Cook & Stokes
Aus most disappointing Player: Clarke's back, Harris Knee and Watson's hammy will all play up.
ENG most disappointing Player: Ballance
Amount of times Shane Warne will say Michael Clarke's name: None I won't be listening to the him in my household. Radio all the way.
Wickets James Anderson will take: 18
Fallout once the series is over for both sides: Aus finally have pants pull down after carrying old and injury plague players. Harris, Watson, Marsh and Watson will all break down during the series.
Picture of Shane Warne & Caitlyn (Bruce) Jennar will surface in bed.
OBE's for England's new brigade.

Got a few right. Hazelwood probably would have been top wicket taker had he not been dropped.
Thought Cook would have done better with the bat but I was right about Balance and Australia carrying old and injured players..
