At this early stage

I have been informed by a very reliable source that Tim Smith, Chad Robinson and PJ Marsh are training the house down and are impressing coach Brian Smith. Our coach is so impressed that he may find a place for all 3 in first grade. I know it may mean sh*T at this early stage but I thought I would pass it on to my forum friends. And another thing Smith really likes Blake Green. He has apparently been signed for a further 2 years, even though contracts mean bugger all nowadays.

I'm not at all surprised with Chad and PJ I think both are specials to be in our top 17!!....but Timmy Smith is a real surprise packet and glad to read that Avenger we need a 7 to call that position his and be cunning enough to grab it with both hands and run. ;-)

I have a huge opinion of Blake Green (and so does everyone else). Its the way he plays the game, he is years ahead of any player his age. He is the complete package for a half back / 5/8. Kicking, passing, running , and most importantly vision. He is one of those players that makes it look easy. Im predicting that T Smith and B Green will be 7 and 6 for our team for many years to come, the only thing is we have to remember is that they are still young and have alot to learn.

We have some of the best youngsters coming through in right positions. Some of the Harold Mathews players from last year will go all the way in particular Jaryd Hayne Fullback and Tony Williams (Big Kiwi Boy) Winger. Anyone that has seen them play will know what im talking about.

There are many more players, More people should get out and watch these games as these young guys really have some flair about the way they play.

Yeah, As I have a few times gotta agree that B.Green and T.Smith must be retained as long term halves combo personally I'd prefer to see Green in the 6 and Smith in the 7.

They have to be kept together aswell no real use is dropped one to promote the other then swapping again.

I'd prefer to see them both kept in reggies to get a combo going then to be swapped around with each other all year.

and yeah Hayne to replace McKinnon at fullback in a couple of years.

Yeah I'm not really surprised about Chad - he's always been a good trainer.

PJ I'm sure is training the house down because he's over the moon at the mere fact he can play again.

And Tim - well, I've been hearing for a while now that he likes to train hard.

That's a huge difference between Witty and Timmy - Timmy is not afraid to mouth off and yell and train hard because he wants the gig. Top stuff.

Well maybe so.

But the fact is everyone has been impressed by this young lad, and if his training has impressed the coach, it can only be good news.

Brian is not exactly the best judge of talent so let's wait and see how they do this year.

For me I will not be expecting to much this year. As this year in My opinion it will a building one for next season 2006. This year we need to blood as many of the young players as we can especially in the outside backs and halfs posys so we can give them the game time that they need to develop. This year will be a learning curve for the youngsters and if we do make the 8, we will just make it (in my opinion).

I know Hayne's a promising player but I think McKinnon has mroe then a few years left. He is a classic fullback. Hayne played on the wing for NSW U'17's so he may fit there.

Alex,

Its true that Mckinnon is a very good player and its true that Hayne played on the Wing and scored 3 trys for the Under 17's but watching him at Fullback the Kid is a Freak. He is Very safe under the High ball the way he leaps in the Air to catch them makes me think he should have played AFL. He reads the defence spot on at Fullback as well opponents kicking games. In attack he is dynamic were he busts tackles and has a Step ans swirve to kill for.

If he keeps on progressing the way he is at the moment he will be the best Junior to come out of the Parra ranks since Brett Kenny. IF he keeps developing I don't think Mckinnon would be able told him out.

Fair enough i guess. I just think some people put too much pressure on younsters at too much of an early stage. First grade is a massive step up from Premier League let alone school boys footy. Remember Wade McKinnon also had massive wraps on him when he was younger and is only now starting to reaslise his potential. Just a slight correction Hayne actually scored 4 tried for NSW.

Smith will never play 5/8, he is too slow and defence is not strong. His only shot will be at half. Also Smith and Green are vey similar in style and would not make a good pairing, I'm afraid one will probably have to go after 2005.

Green is as capable of filling the 5/8 role as he is of playing half and on the return of Queenan he filled the role quite well. The combination of Green and Smith from what I have heard is being viewed as a long term possibility and only due to injury wasn't developed further in Flegg. Morris is more likely to be the player that leaves at the end of the season than either of these two.

Yeah im praying that these too form a combo. Greena has a good point though Tim Smith is not a 5/8 he is not quick enough he is more suited at the No 7. blake Green is more of a complete player running game and all, So if Brian Smith does want the to pair up than I can see that Blake Green will probably end up at 5/8. there was one game in Flegg this year where Tim And Blake paired as someone went off injured and Blake came on in one of his 1st flegg games and they went well together. Blake played at 5/8 and both of them interchanged between 1st and 2nd receiver.

I hope we don't have to lose any of these 2. Its not every day you come across champion halfs the last one we had was P Sterling over 20 years ago. And good Halfs mean you will be close to winning premierships.
