Hynes being paid a million a season looked like a great investment by the Sharks after the 1st season winning Daly M and half of the year. He was fantastic in his 1st Sharks year. Unfortunately for Hynes the Origin game screwed him and he has never recovered. Sharks just need to get him back to his best. If Fitzy cannot achieve this next season then he may be on the chopping block.

The article I read about Atkinson states that the Sharks are not will to pay 500k or guarantee him a halves spot so it seems like he will be a Dragon. Atkinson would have signed knowing the Sharks intentions. This 10 day cooling off period is mentioned in the press to get us nervous. I am more worried that Gus has 10 days to have his secret coffee's and we read Atko backflips and signs with the Dogs.

Saints missed out of AFB but sign Atkinson on a really good deal. AFB's big salary would be a good contributor to having Atko land in our laps. It sort of makes up for missing out on AFB. I would rather a superstar half than superstar prop. Saints will surely get a good prop come through the grades.

Atkinson is already a highly polished diamond he is the diamond that stands out from his competitors.

He comes across as the complete footballer , one that a coach does not require to mould into shape , but one that has those skills built into him from a young age .

He will be a great addition to the Big Red V as the genuine rebuild continues . Flanagan will now be able to concentrate his efforts upon signing a few big boys for the Dragon engine room and from there our stocks will surely rise .

Phew, that's good to know BLM01. I thought that happened to Saints with Connor Tracey and AFB, they were a sure thing to go to Saints then Sharks and Dogs snapped them up out of the blue. We were waiting for the announcement and then we hear they joined a different club altogether.

The trouble is we never signed a contract with AFB or Tracy, it was all rumours pushed through the media but no formal agreement.

If you mean long kicks in general play, I think Gutho and Val will kick quite often from second or even third receiver. They have good boots and it can bring up the opposition defense.

This feels like the Widdop signing, a half who is looking to cement a 1st grade spot that has come from a great system. He's done the hard yards, his body looks to be ready for the rigours of 1st grade & has the intangibles to go along with great skillset.
