Attention people who have been to the GF before

Before the game I would like to have a few settling schooners to calm my nerves, which are shot.

How is the ANZ precinct? Is it too packed to get a beer at the Brewery? Someone told me they have a big carnival there but I'm not keen on lining up for ages to drink overpriced mid strength out of a plastic cup.

Should I go to a pub in Lidcombe instead?

i would advise to stop somewhere before going to the brewery. $7 cans of mid strength over several hours leaves a hole in the pocket and yourself still very sober

Mate check with Tom. He has suggested the Lidcombe Hotel. Not yet sure if we will be there, still working out the logistics between the Marrickville and C'bah crews.

Yes! Tom!

Are you guys gonna drink somewhere inner west stylez because with direct trains running that could be an option too.

yeah dont get to the precinct until you plan on heading inside, it's f**king crazy there, if it's a hot day there's not a great deal of shade during the middle of the day and as aforementioned you're lining up for expensive mid strength beer.

get f**ked at a pub earlier and then just bus or train it there

You could just grab a case from the bottlo in newington, drink it in the park across the street then stroll on down to the stadium. But yeah on a serious note avoid the Olympic precinct for drinks before the game.

Last Grand Final I went to was 07.

They still sold full strength beer and they were $6 each so not too bad.

We got into the stadium at gates open and just drank all day.

It all depends where you are coming from - there are loads of brilliant watering holes around Central Station to go to pre-game. The Keg and Brew in Foveaux Street is a pick. But the Aurora Hotel and Exhibition Hotel also do a couple of decent beer options

In the general area of the Stadium - When you come out of the train station and are facing the stadium there is a pub on the left hand side which serves mid strength garbage out of plastic cups. That's about as appealing as having rusty rivets nailed into your Japs eye and then swimming in vinegar. HOWEVER, on the RIGHT HAND SIDE there is a place on the corner which in 2013 was serving bottled beer (Peroni, Becks etc)

The atmosphere was a little more enjoyable - it was nowhere near as rammed as the dumb shit hotel on the other side of the road and well, full strength beer which wasn't commercial Aussie junk. I call that a win.

But for pre-game, you can't beat the pubs around Central. It's also a quick train ride from there to the game

Good luck Frank

Dooleys @ Lidcombe. Opposite the station. A direct train trip to the stadium

There are 3 or 4 pubs just across from Lidcombe station which is your best bet for cheapies and less crowds. In 2010 I watched the 20s and Reserve Grade at one of em, had a feed etc.

This year I'll be heading into the stadium for the full day coz Roosters are in the 20s, Freddy help my wallet.

If I get in nice and early I'm gonna swing past the Brewery, it's usually crowded and overpriced but it shouldn't be too bad that early in the day. The upside is it's usually a good atmosphere and they'll likely have a live band and lots of staff on to keep the beers flowing.

Concord west train station is not bad if you don't mind a 15min walk to the stadium. You can get a few travellers for the walk. Pub is pretty decent. Used to be my local.
