Legspinner Stuart MacGill has been fined 50% of his match fee following an incident during Australia A's first Test against Pakistan A in Faisalabad. MacGill, after bowling to Mansoor Amjad, reportedly used offensive language against him on the final day of the match and was found guilty of breaching Cricket Australia's Code of Behaviour.
The charge was heard on Sunday in Lahore by a tour committee comprising captain Adam Voges, vice-captain Cameron White and coach Dean Hills.
Commenting on the decision, Michael Brown, Cricket Australia's general manager cricket, said MacGill had set a bad example as a senior player in the side. He added that he would discuss the issue with him once the team returns to Australia.
"I have no problem with players being combative on the field but there is a line they cannot cross and Stuart crossed that line," Brown said in a statement. "It is disappointing that such a senior player would be charged under [clause] 2.6 of our Code of Behaviour as we believe a player with nearly 200 Test wickets should be showing leadership to the emerging group of talented Australian cricketers currently playing in Pakistan."
Australia won the match by an innings and 203 runs. The second and final four-day match, in Lahore, begins on Wednesday.
